Bogkitty a dit : 1) Leaving the like/dislike system distinguishes people to leave their own opinion, since why do that when you can use the like/dislike button 2) Likes/dislikes can be easily manipulated and can therefore be represented as false or even fake stats. Yeah no thanks, I think I would still like to see them getting removed and stick to the traditional way as it goes which is by making a post. Dernière modification le 1493845800000 |

I think the like and dislike buttons are fundamentally different even if they seem the same, and for that reason I am in support of keeping the like button, but removing the dislike button. - If you "like" a post, there's usually nothing more to say - you've agreed with what was said and that is already visible to other forumers, so there is no need to re-state it. A "like" however will also encourage people to write more frequent, helpful (or at least agreeable) posts. - If you "dislike" a post, there should be something you disagree with in it, and simply showing you don't like it doesn't help to further the discussion or solve the issues you disagree with to help people come to a solution or at least talk around it. Simply showing a red number doesn't benefit anyone, will be used a lot out of spite for an individual regardless of the context, and is a needless negative connotation. |

Shamousey a dit : I agree with you that the dislike function should be removed, since what users should use it for is unavoidably going to differ with what they actually use it for. People are going to dislike posts out of spite, or to troll, using alts if necessary, no matter what. So now users can be spiteful without any repercussions. And while I can't say I really care if people dislike my posts, more sensitive users will find it intimidating. I think It'll have a bigger effect than some realise. While I agree that keeping the like button won't be so bad, there will still be the elements of 'popular users with loads of friends will get loads of upvotes all the time for no reason', which I think will cause a lack of cohesion, and the 'like-fishers'. The quality of discussion will be altered because many users will post things just for likes rather than discussion. And I believe forums should be about discussion first and foremost. |

I can support the removal of the dislike button in some sections of the forum, however, I think I would rather give Sentinels the power to remove this system on certain threads if requested to by the thread creator or if the Sentinel finds the thread too much of a sensitive topic for people to be disliking it. Like it or not, this is most likely now permanent for the forum. I think giving Sentinels this kind of power would help tone down the madness by a fraction, and to help stop trolls from mass-disliking the sensitive topics. |

/support I'd also like the likes/dislikes to be less visible. It stands out too much to me right now and it's distracting from the actual post. Instead of disabling it from certain subforums, maybe just only have it enabled on the OP? |

Thank you everyone for the support~~ I want to see how everyone feels about restricting likes/dislikes if they won't remove the dislike feature / restrict where we can actually use the system so like having a cap of x amount of likes per hour or per day maybe even x amount of dislikes per hour or per day thoughts? Honestly, I don't really like any aspect of this feature. I do agree that if it's to be kept at all, then dislikes should be removed all round, except for suggestion threads, announcements, and places that would actually have a dislike button be useful as a gauge. Right now people can just abuse the system, spamming dislikes on art, sensitive posts and pictures, overall making people feel upset and unappreciated. Targeting certain people who you simply don't like has also been made so much easier, as both likes and dislikes are anonymous and it's basically impossible to tell if anyone is intentionally trying to hurt another. I'm not sure I agree with having a limit on likes/dislikes either, since it could still be abused. Also, what would an acceptable amount even be? I also have a distaste for the title underneath my name and I feel it may be nice to have an option available in your profile to remove your own title (much like being able to display your online status or not). I don't feel like there is any kind of need for titles other than to rank some people above others. They can just be a reason to bully other users and put yourself on a pedestal. I'm not saying everyone will do this, just saying it's kind of a flawed system since it is entirely possible. I really do not want a levelling system on this forum, it looks ugly on my profile and I don't particularly want to be involved anyway. I get the feature is new, but in no way does that mean we have no right on stating our opinion. For anyone who believes that people are hating on something just because it has recently been released, this system is flawed and suggestions should probably have been taken into account before even adding the feature so suddenly anyway. Just my two cents. |

Opinions on: Making farming reputation punishable by getting likes reset / warning (maybe)? Make it so you can't like/dislike posts unless you've played x amount of time in-game (like they do for posts)? |

I would like to see a little "span" of time until we can receive more likes (i.e 5-10 likes in 5 minutes and then a pause of like 5 min → to prevent farming AND beggers). I fully support removing dislikes. They don't do anything but show hate and people trolling and them being really frustrating (i.e How You Look IRL thread and Art Section, maybe Comfort Corner too). The likes/dislikes can be easily manipulated, ex: user in Art Section thread: i like your art! (gets 10 likes) same user: *edits* your art sucks There was a good example made by Mousechris (if I remember) on the Announcement thread that showed this "way" to manipulate. Now, beggers. What's wrong with them? They're annoying, and just want likes — if you tell them to stop they'll dislike (hate) on you (speaking from my own experience) and teat likes like an Idol/they value a LOT and show that they're really popular "uwu" (i.e them, they just got that many likes from begging (don't witch hunt them or anything, though, they're just an example ;;)). The "rewards" are just worthless titles, doing nothing at all. They don't matter — if someone thinks they're popular from them they're horribly wrong. So yeah, I'd like it either removed and never come back or just restricted to Suggestions, and removing the dislikes due to them having NO use anyways. |
