Jesus - this happens everyday, everywhere in the third world countries. We don't pay attention to all of them, which is sad. I'm very sorry to hear this is happening ;;

What's wrong with the World Cup being in Brazil? Odd, I thought it was a good thing for the economy when a big event like that is hosted there.
Also, not sure why the media was attacked in one of the pictures - don't see how it's their fault. Although the media's pretty awful, I doubt they have any say in that kind of decision.

ahh I see, I didn't know this
so it's government tax money you mean?
still, they get quite a bit of money from the amount it costs to get tickets there... I'm surprised a profit isn't made, in the end

Nope. In China when they had the olympics they basically HID THE POOR BEHIND A WALL. They're doing similiar in Brazil, hiding the favelas while not helping. Meanwhile things get worse social wise.

Ah, alright, thanks for the explanation. I didn't know about this - sad to hear.

Eh... Enlighten me? I'm not trying to argue anything here, since I don't know much about it. That's why I want to learn, so I might understand.

Do you really want the world knowing how brutal your police force is and how they're basically being hurt for wanting what's right?
That's why they attack the media.

Oh, I see, so the media contributes to this kind of "hiding the poor behind a wall" thing, like you said.
Okay, I think I get it a bit more now.

Yes exactly. They want the world to see the "glamorous" Brazil and not the problems. You didn't even have any idea what was going on, which shows it's working.

That's as political as I'm getting. ^^'

I had heard about a reporter being shot with a rubber bullet.

My opinion of my country is sinking.

I only manage to hear about the world cup in here every now and then in my geography classes but I hadn't heard of all these details.

Ah, I guess it's a pride thing, in a way. The country wants the others to see that it's a "problem free" place, rather than accept the problems they have (e.g. poverty) and help the people. And, haha, yeah; I was very ignorant on the subject.

Alright, thanks again for explaining it all to me. ^^
