it's a really fun game (browser) where you can only get to level 20 max
but one bad thing is that if you die you lose everything and have to start back at level 1
(you can safely store your items, even when you die, in the vault)

To be honest, on Animal Jam, you don't play as ONLY a penguin, and nonmembers get more freedom.
I was a nonmember for quite a few months, and I didn't mind, because nonmembers still get freedom and such.
