Training isn't as helpful as I was hoping it'd be... I think it'd be cool if in the future you saw "Welcome to Training, [screenname]! What would you like to do?" or something and you would be able to pick different options such as~

"Power up Practice", (Pick one power up and dance an entire song with that power up activated)
"Normal Mode" (just practice dancing alone, which is what training is now)
"Tutorial Mode" (A very easy song is played, and the game would pause from time to time to tell you about the effects of arrows such as 2x, life regain, sushi, etc. as you hit them.)
"Hard Mode" (A very difficult song is played for you to dance to. For example, the difficult start of "Mighty Disco King", but a different song)

This post is so longer than I was planning on. First section is cat math about the distribution of sushi, second is gameplay suggestions, third is generic suggestions that might have already been posted but Idk.

More ways to earn sushi would be nice. Or at least make it so you can earn more during a song than 5, even just 6-7 would be good since it'd add up. With the new fox fur being 4,000 sushi people have to finish 800 songs getting all the sushi in order to get it. Assuming each song on average is 2 minutes long (max is 3), that means players need to play about 1,600 minutes or 26.6 hours...remember that's if they play perfectly/hit all 5 sushi notes...yeah...but for those of us that aren't dancing gods we get more like 3-4 sushi a song, so I'll put that as about 3.5 for the same formula. (4000/3.5)*2=2285 minutes or 38 hours. Either way it takes over a day of constant playing just to get the one item...would be nice if we could speed that up a bit.

Granted, most of the furs are merely 1k-2k, so it'd take a fourth/half the time respectively, so if it's just the case that 'exotic' looking furs are 4k then that would be fine, as long as most 'normal' items are more affordable (a lot of the items are rather cheap which is nice). But yeah, if there are going to be a bunch more things that are thousands of sushi it'd be cool if we could get more quicker, otherwise this game could quickly turn into a grind (well more than it is ;P).

Enough Catmath. Onto some actual suggestions/ideas for gameplay/such since economics is boring.
-A sort of 'soulmate' room/system where two cats share health on a song as well as score, and dance beside each other as dance partners. Partners would have somewhat different sets of notes from each other. (so half people in the room would have one set of arrows, half the people would have another set so it actually looks like a bunch of partners dancing on the floor) (easy fix for this is to have every other person have their left and right arrows reversed and it'd look allright when they sync up)
-A 'spotlight' mode where once in a while the room will get a little darker and a light will be on one cat, and if they complete the section of notes flawlessly they get some bonus sushi. Possibly have it so it goes off on whoever played the song that's currently playing right after the second freestyle, so they have a challenge. Another thing is while the spotlight is one the cat they can't be affected by the powerups, as that could lead someone to an unfair disadvantage to earning the bonus sushi.
-A co-op mode where every cat in the room shares a health bar and must dance in unison to complete the song. This would come with a slightly nerfed penalty for failing to make up for the multiple people playing. At the end of the song it could award a bonus if 90-95%+ of the sushi was gathered during the song as a group. This mode would have none of the detrimental powerups, and the heal power would only give a little bit for each person who hits it.
-A mode called 'runaway train' or something similar, it'd be a 'fun' gamemode where the longer your streak gets, the faster and faster your notes start falling. If you miss a note/hit air your streak would decrease by ~20-25 and the speed would slow to compensate. In addition the health works as if you were constantly on hard mode so failing too much would quickly result in a game over for you, and success would lead to a progressively harder performance to put on. It would probably balance around 100 notes being the current speed powerup, and slowly scale up to that. (I've seen people get 200-250 note streaks before, and the speed powerup isn't that bad as it is atm, but maybe I'm just used to notes being fast since rock band/such...)

...And some more general suggestions:
-A profile with times gotten 1st/100%/gathered sushi would be cool, along with titles to match
-Bucket helmet
-The Neko bell (people actually posted a picture of it in the couple posts above me)
-A contest to see who makes the best background, winner gets it implemented into the game...it'd work kinda like the furs contest on tfm did.
-Make training rooms private, but allow people to /invite friends. Also allow players to remove/reallow powerups in training rooms.
-An option to play with a constant powerup effect. (so I could play with a constant speed debuff, for example. I hate when powerups suddenly start/stop but the actual problems they cause are fun to try and deal with)
-Special rooms for the different difficulty leves, that way people can play on constant easy/normal/hard/extreme mode depending on what they want. Possibly linked to earning extra sushi on harder difficulties?
-Notes that you have to hold in order to hit them. There's one rhythm game I play that uses the arrow keys and the 1-4 number keys. arrow keys are tap, 1-4 are hold but they fall in the same basic slots as the arrows so they can go over each other and it leads to some pretty fun combinations and difficulty without relying on spamming arrows at the player. If someone wants to go check it out the game I'm referring to is 'Super Crazy Guitar Maniac Deluxe 3'...also yes that's a really long name for a game.
-Change the 'you died' message to something less sinister. Possibly something along the lines of get off the stage or you failed.
-Allow more than 10 songs in a player's setlist.
-A room where the time limit on songs is increased to 5-10 minutes.
-Backgrounds for the other A801 games. So if you look in the background on one you could see people frozen in time fighting in Forteresse, or shamans building in tfm.

Okay I went back and was going to delete out the suggestions that were already suggested and add a couple more, but these forums suck and I'm apparently not allowed to edit or even delete my own post, so I can't even just delete/repost it with updated stuff. So here's the new stuff I was going to add to my last one:

-Red/white striped cat-in-the-hat's hat
-Engineering helmet/hard hat
-Mis-matched eyes. Mis-matched furs. That way we can make chimera cats like this: http://i.huffpost.com/gen/746338/thumbs/o-VENUS-570.jpg?5
-Straw hat
-3D glasses
-Black shirt/slacks
-More long-sleeved shirts. (there's currently just one, rest are actual t-shirts)
-Fur hat/hunting cap
-Different sneakers/shoes
-A clear version of the sunglasses or something similar
-Goggles

-An option to disable our cat visually. So if someone doesn't want people to see their kitty being sad about failing so much/such they can hide it.

1-24 Green
25-34 Orange
35-49 Yellow
50-99 Red
100-149 Purple
150-249 Blue
250+ Rainbow

(sorry I am bad at making colors the purple hurts my eyes)

And for all that hard work, after 50 combo spotlights will shine on you the color of your combo just to show how good
you are. :3 Sometimes pros are unappreciated for what they really are, this will show their true colors. I DONT KNOW

The new gray fur looks awful. I suggest they remake it. The fox fur could be more detailed as well.

I would also like scary eyes, with the eye whites being black and the pupils being red.

Highly look forward to a leopard fur as well.

Option to disable the screen shake when you miss an arrow? Sometimes it really throws me off and sometimes it even gives me little lag spikes. :x

Also, I agree to this. The arrows are way out of sync on most songs and I end up making a lot of mistakes because I'm used to following the rhythm of the song; and Nekodancer, as you say, compared to other games of the type, is currently more of a visual challenge than it is a rhythm one.

trying not to get off topic but japanese bobtails are one of my favorite cats behind the sphinx. i would love to see a fur in shop with a short little tail.
