Hello, I would like to teach everyone here about anchors, there is A LOT of things people truely don't realise about them, even the Mapcrew and many famous Map Makers. Anchor glitches, bugs, phisics, hiding them, theres so much more to them other then just oh, they connect. Because that's true but there's hidden secrets as well. So without futher ado... here we go! Anchors in General There are 5 anchors Trasformice uses, 7 if you count the two reverse spinning anchors. These 5 anchors all have their own unuque characteristics. Blue/Green achor allows free spin where it connects and the connection now can move any which way in a circle. The Red anchor allows you to pin a dynamic object to the air. The Yellow anchor will act like the blue anchor but will stay in the same place with the connectors rotation. (with exception for a few rotation axis's) The Spinning Anchors have the same properties as their non-spinnings equivilants but just with the ability to spin. What are all the anchor properties individually? Lets start from the top. Red Anchor Anchors in General a dit : Now that we know this it's time to learn what else this anchor can do, what people don't know and so on. Hiding the Red Anchor There is only ONE known way to hide this anchor without any major glitchs. To hide it simple take the ground you connected it to (must be dynamic) and place over the anchor a non-dynamic ground. Depending on the situation it will most likely have no collission with grounds. Example XML a dit : Spiriting this Anchor Spiriting this anchor will look differantly depending if you are the Shaman or the Mouse. Shaman It will apear the red anchor is exactly at 0x0y and as if it now created a red anchor IF for the shaman. Mouse Due to shaman sync, it will only appear as if it is being PULLED to 0x0y causing problems for the mice during the play of a map. Whats differant about the Red Anchor? Amazingly you can even use this anchor to make it so you cannot use Red Anchors cleanly without crazy planks flying around for mice. All you have to do is instead of the shaman, you place a red achor to go to IF in the map editor. The easyest way is just to make to grounds have fixed rotation and connect them. Example XML a dit : Yellow Anchor Anchors in General a dit : Now that we know this it's time to learn what else this anchor can do, what people don't know and so on. Hiding the Yellow Anchor There are 3 ways of hiding this anchor, the first is with all anchors is the way listed in the Red Anchor. The other two ways involve Foreground, and the Invalid Connection with the Red Anchor. Foreground Meathod The foreground meathod is actually very very simple. Simple take a background ground, and a foreground ground and place the forground behind the background and connect them. Example XML a dit : Invalid Connection Meathod This one is a bit more difficult to understand if you don't shaman. This meathod uses the idea that in shaman mode it is impossible to place anchors in this certain way making it so the game does not register that the anchor is there. Taking the z-axis of ground one and making it the lowest where the yellow anchor will hide, next place ground two to the connection of ground 1 with a higher z-axis, place a red anchor at ground 2 and a yellow anchor connecting ground 1 and 2 then make the yellow anchor highest z value. Example XML a dit : You can hide the red anchor with the red anchor meathod. Blue/Green Anchor Hiding the Blue/Green Anchor To hide this anchor look at the ways to hide the yellow anchor, they will be the same for this. Whats differant about the Blue/Green Anchor? The Blue/Green Anchor is very much differant with unique properties, it has the ability to make things incapable to be connected by red anchors. (red anchors can ruin mech maps a lot) Many people are not in the know of this. Take Temples @2036283 for example, in some places of the map you can't connact the dynamic bits with a red anchor plank, however in others you can, why is this? It's a bug, outside of map editor you can't connect anything with a connecter of a higher z-axis that connects with a blue anchor with a red anchor, ever noticed this when your the shaman? It's the same effect. Example XML a dit : Just try it, no matter what you do you can't B plank it. (the one with the highest z value) Rotation Anchors These two types of anchors have about the same properties as their equivilants. Same bugs, same glitchs, except they can spin, not much to explain other then they can be used for mechanicsm movement. What did you learn about anchors? Is there something you know of that I don't? Please say so here! And remember to use what you learned here in your own maps! |
