I don't know if this was recent or not, but if you click peoples pencil drawings from them using the red or green pencils, it now shows who drew that specific bit of art. I was able to click my own art and it says "Art by Jammerys" This will probably combat all the penis drawers. |

Small post as a reminder that I've read all the complaints lately, and I think you guys raised a lot of valid points. It's a bit late and I've got a lot going on here so I'm going to try to make it short (and it might be a bit deconstructed too) It's a surprise for no one to hear that Transformice is losing players, and has been for several years now (not limited to the last months). In order to stop the hemorrhagy (can't really speak about fixing such a thing) we thought, let's put all we've got. Players want content, let's make a LOT of that. One event per week, yeah, sounds crazy but if we plan ahead, we can do it. We start doing that, and the numbers are actually pretty satisfying! Lots of players, playing a lot, buying the new items/furs a lot! Sure not all events were perfect, but stats were good. That's what counts right? It wasn't. Players began to complain, they got more and more frustrated they couldn't get one reward because they couldn't invest so much time, and started to stop playing as soon as their "streak" of rewards got broken for a reason. We had fallen into the pit of daily rewards we absolutely wanted to avoid: having only players coming back for their little Skinner Box reward, and lose interest over playing the core game. It was not making any sense. It was like playing League of Legends and getting rewards for making your character spin on itself for five minutes every hour. It's alienating, but players do it, because there's a reward attached to it. We wanted to stop this, so we introduced the shift. Extending events to 2 weeks to reduce players frustration of missing out, and going back to the old mechanics, distributing rewards for actually playing the game and not some alienating nonsense gameplay. But it's not satisfying either. Numbers dropped dramatically since the shift, as players got used to a mountain of rewards and suddenly we don't make as much anymore. A mountain of gameplays, that might have seemed silly but kept players entertained in a way. It's hard to find balance. I'd even daresay it's the ultimate, hardest part of a game designer's job. One half of players want something, the other half wants exactly the opposite, how do you make it so not 100% of them are unsatisfied? I'm afraid I have no easy answer for what to do EXACTLY about events. Tomorrow, there's the ol' lagboat coming back with a reskin and some new rewards, and I know you won't find that exciting (I don't). It's the best we could pull off after crunching in stats and reading about stuff here. I did the Twitch stream earlier because there's something I do definitely agree with from what I've read here: we don't communicate enough. I mean, prior to doing things. We always communicate after. I should even have announced that stream days before doing it. We should bring back Paroles de Dev, tell you what's up. For example, will you believe it that Azrou has dedicated the last 3 weeks to the name change, and that it's about to be beta-tested? I know it's terrible on our part to not communicate on such a thing, but it's been reported so many times we don't feel like announcing dates at all. It's a debate, would it be better to say every week that the name change is reported, or just work on it and announce it when we're almost ready? There's another issue that might have a good spot in a Paroles de Dev blog post: Flash. We all know Flash is dying, and when I went to GDC in San Francisco in March, I got told dark things about its future on Chrome. Some of you saw the announcement lately, that it's going to be slowly removed starting the end of this year. From that, what do *we* do? We had hours-long discussions with Tig on the matter, and he engaged all the developers (Azrou, Pikashu, Stardev) into some research & development about other technologies. That takes time. And then there's Dead Maze. The game is slowly approaching its alpha state, so we reactivated some communication about it, posting a screenshot every wednesday. It's the biggest time-hungry project of them all, because it's a lot more ambitious than Transformice. That stretches us quite thin. Not looking for excuses here, we bit more than we could chew, and it's having consequences. I'm sorry to have let you down, and I can't promise we'll make everything better overnight. I can only promise we'll keep trying. Also I fixed the badges and will be carefully checking for those nasty artefacts in the future puff I promise Dernière modification le 1464300960000 |

Melibellule a dit : Blogs are the best way to showcase things. You can showcase us little screencaps or what's been worked on, or update it on a weekly basis of just some small things that're been worked on. We don't need big full announcements of huge updates, in indie based games with a smaller player population, just making players aware that you recognize that they exist and that you care to communicate things will make people stick around more. Lack of communication and lack of content updates makes people no longer want to play. A lot of updates are put into the game, without anyone being aware that they're coming, this can frustrate players as it changes the game experience without anyone expecting or being prepared for it. |
