| Chapter 3 ABCThey all sat in silence. The sound of the cage bring dragged slowly through the wet, grainy mud and the echoes of raindrops coming down on its roof were the only audible noises. All three mice felt a mix of the same things—anger, frustration, and hopelessness. In truth, they were all terrified. ABCAs the rest of the mice slowly woke up to join them, the quiet cage broke its stillness as faint murmurs filled the air. ABC“What’s going on here…” ABC“Hi there, could you tell me where I am…” ABC“I’m afraid there’s been a mistake, how did I end up in here…” ABC“Mom? Dad? Are you guys in here…” ABCZipp was wordless, but was tuned in to everything the mice said. They all came to him with a bit of a heartbreak, but some completely devastated him. Rose now joined him against the wall and sat, breathing a sigh that was calmer and not as frustrated. Looking at him, she knew he was thinking the same thing that she was. “I told you they weren’t following age restrictions anymore.” ABCHe fiddled with his unlit pipe, tossing it around in his hands and chewing the end nervously. “Can they do this?” ABC“Can they do this? Do you really think anyone cares?” ABC“What about our families?” ABC“Forget about them. They can’t do anything to help us. It’s best to let-“ ABCHer voiced was then drowned out by a sudden shriek, followed abruptly by more cries and panicked voices. The two could both see them all now; their eyes were wide and their pupils darted around frantically, some crying, some screaming, some in shock, and others sitting with a blank expression of hopelessness and mixed emotions. ABCZipp stared at them all, nearly in awe by how different they all reacted. “I think they just found out where they’re going.”
I'm back! Bet you didn't expect it! Since summer's coming around the corner, I'm gonna start trying to post a new chapter every Friday. This series needs to stay alive! Holy crap I just realized it's been six months since an update. |

| Chapter 4 ABC”I’m gonna have a little chat with the General about this when we make it back to camp,” a normal grey-furred shaman huffed to his co-workers. He stood in front of the cage, trudging through the wet mud and pulling at a long rope tied to the cage. ABC”You and me both man, I swear these cages get heavier and heavier,” the shaman next to him snorted. She had tan fur and had the markings of a hard-level shaman. ABCFrom the back shouted another shaman, normal-level, and black-furred, “Because they put more and more mice in these every single time.” ABCThe fourth shaman, also pushing the cage from the back, added to the third, “I would also watch it, you just got promoted to hard-level. Are you really willing to lose it so fast?” She had white fur and was a normal shaman. ABCThe grey one glanced over to the tan shaman. “She has a good point. Maybe I should just go.” ABCShe snorted back at him, “Perhaps the General would actually like what I have to say. I have some recommendations for him involving transporting all these mice.” ABCThe tan shaman could hear the faint giggle of the black shaman at the back end of the cage. “Heh, like what?” ABC”Well, why not use cannons to push the cage faster? Four shamans and a few runes has never worked well, and it never will.” ABC”Haha, for a hard-level, you sure don’t listen to the General. He told us not to use cannons because the cage is fragile. They would probably go right through it and everyone would escape or get hurt.” ABC”How about we just have them all walk there?” ABC”Oh please. You know just as well as I do that they’d run off.” ABCThe tan shaman sighed a bit and mumbled, “They wouldn’t if they actually applied to do this.” Through the rain’s fog, she could see the faint, grey campsite. She knew that soon enough, yet another batch of mice would be left to suffer in a nightmarish prison. ABC “Poor guys.”

| Chapter 5 ABCUpon arrival, it took another handful of hours to get everyone out of the cage. Several shamans had secured the area while a few others made their way inside, taking a few mice at once and tying their paws together with scratchy rope. After being tied, they were pushed out in a single filed line. The fencing that kept them in line spread out after a few meters and branched into four separate lines, all of which ended at a gate and a small box with a mouse sitting behind a window. ABCAs Zipp and Rose were sent out of their cage, they saw the four long lines of rough-looking mice and chose the one they found least dangerous. ABC”What’s up with these guys?” Zipp whispered to Rose as quietly as he could. “Shouldn’t they be scared?” ABC”It’s probably another group that was brought here. They were here before us. My bet is that these are the people who chose to come here.” She shrugged. “Why they chose to come here? I have no idea.” ABCAfter what seemed to be forever, Zipp found himself in front of the line and looked at the mouse sitting behind the window. “Umm, hi?” ABCThe mouse had strands of fur sticking out all over, a weary expression, and dark circles under his eyes. “First name?” ABC”Oh, uh-“ ABC”Speed this up, newbie.” ABC”Zipp. My name is Zipp.” He bit his lip nervously and tried to hold back any signs of fear. ABC”Do you have any past jail time or other form of punishment from high authority?” ABC”No.” ABC”Do you have any children that are currently left unattended?” ABC”No.” ABC”Do you have any objects with you besides articles of clothing?” ABC”Um, yes.” ABC”Hand them over.” ABC”I-What? Why do I need to-“ his voice was tripping over itself as the mouse’s I’m-not-playing-around eyes stared right at him. He grumbled as he reached into his bandana and handed over his pipe. “That’s all I have.” ABCThe uninterested window worker handed a ticket to Zipp and told him, “Don’t lose this. Go through the gate and show it to the guard.” ABCGrabbing the ticket and proceeding through the presently-open gates, it wasn’t any more apparent to Zipp any other time but now. ABCHe was terrified.
