Yeah. It's too much. After playing hours a day for a while, I still need about 1500 candies. I'm exhausted, but still want to finish it anyway as I'm still a fan enjoying the game. Would have been nice if I managed to finish it around this time. But no I must keep grinding and grinding every event.
During the recent events, I keep trying to communicate and give feedback to the devs via this forum, Meli's blog and such. But I'm just one random mouse. She rarely replies to my concerns. :(
At least I have everything from the past events. The poor new mice who'd want everything that will get overwhelmed.... :(

You might be interested in some calculations me and someone else did long ago.

Sigh.... remember the old days when collecting about 500 eggs/gifts etc from the maps was enough to finish the event? Assuming you got the collectibles about 80% of the time, that's about 20 hours of gameplay needed to finish it. Just about 1.5 hour a day for 2 weeks. That was great! What happened to those?
(In case you weren't there and don't know, the numbers are cumulative. In other words you don't lose 250 eggs when you get the Easter Basket Hat for example)

Can we please get the Advent Calender again this Christmas? :(
