Satash a dit : I feel like everyone's knee-jerk reaction is to hate long tails and say that they're wrong because Meli draws mice with very short tails. We would have far more diverse fan art if more people started out by looking at pictures of real mice rather than being content with imitating her style. Anyway, I just wanted to add one thing to Fierying's critique: Cropping. Putting the character anywhere but the middle of the image makes for far more interesting composition. The place where the mouse's head is now is typically the first place that our eye goes when we look at something, and then it goes to the sun since the mouse is looking in that direction, then to explore more of the background, then back up to the mouse via the curve of the cliff, etc. Now you have a composition that encourages the eye to travel around and look at your whole drawing rather than being stuck in the middle of the page! |

Eyes over hair, sorry. Consider making the hair a bit higher so you have a glimpse of the glowing eyes under? Maybe make the hair glow where the eyes are under? It's just weird seeing the eyes over the hair lol, sordy if that's your style |

I'd say you need to work on your hair/fur. Some parts of fur need to loosen up a little (The mouse at the back on the left in particular), it looks like some parts of fur have been gelled! You could also vary your line weights a bit more. But overall, I really like this piece, I like the dark environment you've created, the use of color is good. c: Keep up the good work! |

Can someone critique this W.I.P drawing of mine? It’s supposed to be Scourge and Tigerstar. I’d like a criteque before I continue.. I’d need a lot of help on the Tigerstar sketch area though... I dont know how to make cats sprawled onto their sides... Help? |

Here is a sprawled cat (it looks like tigerstar too, kk then). Try studying it a bit, and practice drawing it. I also noticed that the muzzles on S and T are a bit long for a cat, try making it a bit shorter. |

Lordfuzzy a dit : I do know how the cats look like when sprawled like that, I have some images from google.. But that’s kind of from the top angle, not the side, I dont know... I’d like a redline from whoever if possible please? >_< |

griffincraft a dit : You really need to practice snouts, as these look as they belong to one of a canines. I also don't get why the tail of the black cat is all bushy at the end? This looks very odd. |

^Just the style in which I chose to do the tailtip. I think that bushy tail tips are cute... And I do notice that about the snouts, I’ll practice on that |

I don't know if this will help you, Grifin but I redlined it for you. I'm not a cat expert I can tell you that though. |

The tail also looks a bit long for a cat, perhaps you should make it shorter. ^[size=1]That ninja. |

Yeah, I thought this was wolves at first glance as well. Just round the nose out, that should help. Lordfuzzy a dit : It kind of gives the appearance of laying in this though? Not to mention that's a tiny arm. |

Maasaconda a dit : I mean what I’m trying to go for is Tigerstar looking up at Scourge, both front paws reaching out in strain and the hind legs splayed out to the side. But then that’s the problem; I dont know how to draw a cat splayed on it’s side from a side angle view |

have both the legs go back, it'll make him look more helpless :) and put the neck/head down, his whole posture should show defeat. whereas tigerstar's should show power and triumph. make him stick his chest out, lean forward more. here, I'll sketch something see how the top cat is lying down. his whole posture points to defeat and fear. his ears are flat back (normally cat ears shoud face forward, not like how you drew with tigerstar) his tail is tucked in and his limbs are in no position for him to get up easily, which makes him look helpless. the cat on the bottom is wary, but he knows he's the victor. his back is still a little arched but he is standing up straight, his ears are pointed up and his tail is up. he is also holding his head high and looking down, like how "snooty ladies" act in books etc. his posture shows thhat he is the one with the upper hand. sorry if they look a little funny, cats are not my strong suit. Sourisplum a dit : I wanted to have the legs splayed out behind him, kind of like they showed in the cat images, and him clawing at the ground in strain and looking at scourge with horror in his eyes... [size=3]Das dark But I dont know how to draw the legs splayed out at his side from a side angle |

luckybunnyk a dit : Just thought I'd point out on this -- a cat only has dewclaws on it's front legs for the most part, and the dewclaws are located on the inner leg. They wouldn't be visible, except for on the right front leg (the front leg furthest away from the viewer). Just in case you were going to add those in at all. Dernière modification le 1410735180000 |
