stalii a dit : I just found this out yesterday type in: then you should enter it and see numbers like so: the bigger the number the more lag you have. This is just a tip to see how much lag you have on your computer, not much of an answer |

stalii a dit : Contact Atelier, this seems to be a lot of lag you have. Or just search up how to get rid of the lag on your computer, It might work, wifi connection too can also be a problem if it isn't connected all the way. |

This question might've already been answered, but does your computer itself lag on any other websites? Cause if it does, it might be the computer, or you have slow internet. I've never experienced this problem before, but it sounds pretty bad. |

Firstly about the screenshot of your /ips a dit : Quoted from Jordynl http://atelier801.com/topic?f=6&t=805805 Had to do some looking up. So in your screenshot you have been getting 1 Fps (Frames per second) with an average of 5 Fps. Dunno how or why the average is calculated or even there. And all really to look at. The rest of it looks pretty normal imo. 2. I wouldn't recommend McAfee. Since its expired, I'd recommend uninstalling it. Unless you prefer it, but then you may have to start paying for it to get rid of the expiry message. The pop up asking for permission to run is probably asking to do a virus scan on your computer. Since u had allowed it once and still popping up then idk. All more reason McAfee is crap imo lol. Recently was recommended Microsoft Security Essentials since I hate having monthly subscription anti-viruses. Symantec is ok. You'd have to pay for it eventually. I'd personally recommend Malwarebytes as well. It has a one time payment, and even if u don't want to pay, It will still stay up to date on its anti-virus definitions. It shouldn't bug you to often with a pop up saying its expired. Only when you actually open it there will be a little message in red saying so, but you can go ahead with starting a virus scan. Please, if you decide to uninstall McAfee and try one of the recommended alternatives above. Ensure your downloading from the right website. I'd say asking someone irl with more computer technical knowledge to assist you. 3. From what I read. Heres my reasons why you had the issue. Since you said you fixed it by restarting. Then maybe you have left your laptop on for too long. completely shuting down your laptop when you don't plan to use it for awhile is good. Restarting/shuting down refreshes the resources in a way like feeling refreshed taking a nap after being tired. I would also point to McAfee being the cause. I havn't used McAfee in a really long time so I don't know if they have gotten better. But I say look into alternatives like the ones recommended above and have someone assist you. Anti-viruses can be resource hogs when doing virus scans. So trying to play while a virus scan is going on in the background can be difficult if your specs aren't that great. Viruses? Do a full virus scan with McAfee or the alternative you picked if you decide on it. See if u get any. let ur anti-virus handle dispose of it. Do the scan overnight with nothing else open while your asleep. Restart after its finished. I have other ideas and possible solutions. But please try doing a full virus scan first. and still would recommend getting rid of McAfee and getting a different anti-virus to protect your laptop. Dernière modification le 1483947060000 |

Your battery can also affect the computer's performance, usually my fps drops when I play league when I have <15% and I'm on battery, and fps spikes up again when I have it charging, also see if your battery is on power saver or whatever power mode it is on. Also check if your laptop is getting sufficient heat management. |

When I had my Gateway laptop, the thing would slow down every time I left it on sleep overnight, AND it had a broken cooling system. If restarting solved the issue the first time I dont see why it cant solve it every time. I think your real issue is that you don't take good care of the computer. Wigglychwtoy a dit : Thanks! What's an "average fps" though? a dit : I still don't know what this has to do with McAfee... a dit : I said it was fixed by the community platform restart, not my pc restart. I've tried to restart it to fix the problem, but it doesn't help at all. Wigglychwtoy a dit : Still don't know what viruses have to do with this, but a few days ago, Windows Defender (I didn't even know I had this) did a scan and nothing was found. Xarthe a dit : My battery is always plugged in. It's at 100% at all times. It doesn't appear to be on any special power mode, and how do I check heat management?... a0xis a dit : This is a relatively new computer, I got it in August. I've accidentally left it on sleep twice, and spilled a drink on it once. The FPS issue existed before the spill, and I did a pretty good job at cleaning the mess up. I wouldn't say it is related to how I took care of the computer. And once again, restarting the pc doesn't help. THANK YOU ALL FOR THE REPLIES! I FELT REALLY HOPELESS FOR A WHILE :( |

I feel sorry for you because of your problem. I also get lag spikes when I run Transformice on Linux. Anyway, here are some things to do that might somewhat help:

I have done everything except: Cyanny a dit : McAfee tells me to buy a subscription first, so I couldn't do these. The other methods that I have done don't seem to help :/ Thank you so much for the help though, I really appreciate it!! |

Better off without McAfee in general. Uninstall it and see what happens. Won't hurt ya to go without an antivirus for awhile and you can get a much better antivirus software. Long as your staying safe, not clicking on unknown links, opening emails u don't know who their from etc. Antivirus overall is only as good as its definitions Do you honestly use Cortana? Like use its features to find things frequently. If not, your better off disabling Cortana and using the traditional search bar. How many tabs do you have open in chrome while playing transformice? |

Wigglychwtoy a dit : I'll try to uninstall it! I don't really need an antivirus anyway, this laptop is used solely for school work and Transformice. I do use Cortana. I search for my memo pads or stuff like that by typing the document name on the lower left search bar (wait is the search bar not Cortana?). I don't use it on any other occasions. And I opened 3 tabs on chrome, all Atelier websites, mainly checking for replies. I have found out that opening chrome tabs actually reduced the fps lag. It worked like magic for the first two times, then it stopped working. Not sure if it's a coincidence or not. I would also sometimes get good fps days, but it usually drops without warning after 10 minutes of gameplay. |
