Hello, Apocalypse survivors! Last week, we worked on what really makes Dead Maze a survival game, by adding a few features and balancing the existant ones. First of all, we focused on the experience system. We wanted to reward survivalists who take more and more risks outside of the campfires. Therefore, the new XP system contains a whole new bar at the bottom of the screen: this bar fills up as you kill zombies and is stacked up. When the first bar is filled, you gain a "Threat" level. Zombies hit harder. When the second bar is filled, you hit the second level of threat, zombies make even more damage than during the first one, and it goes on and on. You gain all that stacked up XP when you rest at a campfire or at your camp. It means that if you achieved a level 3 threat, you gain a lot more XP than if you rest at a Threat level of 1 or 2. But be careful, the zombies gain a proportional damage boost, so you'll have to play more and more carefully as you level up your Threat. When you die, you loose all your cumulated XP and your bar resets. We believe this system will encourage players who already like to take risks, while not penalizing the ones who aren't interested in leveling up very quickly or taking more risks. Let us know what you think of it, as always, in the forums! We also reworked the leveling system, adding rewards at each stage such as recipes and skills that can't be obtained differently in the game. We also merged the quality/durability system into one block, to clarify the displayed information on the screen and balance items more efficiently in the future. All those changes couldn't be visible with the actual UI, so we completely redesigned it. You now have direct access to 6 slot items, the rest are in a bag that you can open/close when clicking on it. The general information is now more simple to read. You can transfer an item from your bag to your direct inventory by right clicking on it (same for the other way around). You can now equip/unequip an item by simply clicking on it. It's not over! First, you'll have access to a whole new map, the Mall. We already talked about it in the 7.0 patchnote. Check out the loading screen here! You'll also be able to continue the story, as we added 5 more quests and 2 new cinematics! As for the balancing part, we nerfed the crawlers a little bit, optimized the other zombies, and redesigned some items/weapons. Patchnote 7.3 |
