Disclaimer: Hello, all Apocalypse survivors out there! This week we worked on many things simultaneously, some invisible to the players, others that you'll be able to enjoy in this patch. Are you ready? tl;dr version:
Dodging is important if you want to survive. With the good timing, you'll be able to cross a melee without taking a lot of damages. This will allow you to kill a particular infected that you have to shut down first, or to be at your rendez-vous without fighting too much. Be careful tho, as dodging consumes your combo bar, and you don't want to be naked in the middle of an ennemy pack! We also extended the duration of the sprint. The combo bar looses its points less faster, that will give you the occasion to cross the maps even faster than Usain Bolt. This came to us as a necessity, as our maps grow bigger and bigger. If you didn't wishlist our game on Steam yet, go for it! The new login screen includes the Steam connexion now! When the player does something particular (like being on his profile, talking to an NPC or being knocked out...), an icon is displayed right near his nickname (or his portrait when he's in group). Two icons have been added: when the player is resting at the campfire, and when he's watching a cinematic, for better clarity! When you enter a secret passage, a timer sets and is displayed at the top of your screen (it disappears when you get out of it, obviously). We hope it will help you have a better reading, please tell us what you think of it! Remember when we introduced "Threat levels"? We're polishing the system and we came to this: at each level, 4 special infecteds gain statistics or new skills. For example, the Catapult will be able to throw 2 infecteds instead of one at the first level of threat. Obviously, it stacks up, just for fun. Please keep in mind that each buff on an infected is displayed only for the one who has the right level of Threat. Meaning that in a group, the one who is at a higher threat level will have a lot to deal with, compared with the one with the minimum threat level. The order is not random, it's been thought. Don't blame the system! :p
Last but not least, we thought we had enough features for the game, well... apparently not! It's a system that already has been implemented but been put aside because of priorities, but today we're glad to announce that we redesigned elemental damages! Some weapons like the extinguisher, the lighter or the bleach deal damages that are not physical. We took this system and added... combination to it. Hold still. Elemental damages apply particular "statuses" to monsters and players. Dealing cold damages colds, dealing fire damages applies a combustion, poison damages deal toxicity, and electricity damages apply the "electrified" status. It's not over. Being cold is seeing your moving and attacking speed substantially decreasing for few seconds. Being on fire is having a fading dot, burning less and less for few seconds. Timer resets at each combustion. Being poisoned is like being on fire, but the other way around. It hurts a little for starter, then completely becomes madness over the seconds. Being electrified increases the chances to electrify the others around you, like a chain. It's not over! Let's talk about combos now. For now we only have three weapons that apply the "wet" status. You'll be using it to combine it with other elements. For example: Wet + Cold = Frozen. The frozen ennemy is stuck in his position for a while, and each damage you deal is a critical one.
Wet + Electricity = more chances to hit the ennemies in chain, like a lightninh chain, which stuns them faster. Fire + Poison = Fire explosion. Etc... Some effects counter each others, as the water and poison, or water and fire, or fire and frozen.. Weapons, items and environnemental conditions will diversify the way to apply those statuses, please feel free to suggest some! This is a work in progress, we know there aren't all the effects yet, some icons are missing, but the feature is here for you to enjoy! So... ENJOY! Patchnote 7.6 |
