To be honest, I really don't think this petition will help, it's obvious that they are in lack of moderation not only for this but in other games as well, it's just a problem of whether they care to do something about it or not. I'm sure you'll be able to find at least a 100 supporters but in the end, it's up to their decision.

Isn't that true of any petition?

dictionary.reference.com a dit :
petition; noun; a formally drawn request, often bearing the names of a number of those making the request, that is addressed to a person or group of persons in authority or power, soliciting some favor, right, mercy, or other benefit

Of course, to me, the whole point of a petition is to gain attention to a certain subject/problem and especially for Fortoresse, it's known to have hackers due to the lack of having moderators.

Don't think that this is something that both the Moderation team and Admins haven't already thought of and discussed; we all want hackers gone on all of Atelier801's games. Like Shadowwinter has already pointed out though, the small communities make hiring suitable candidates extremely hard. I haven't logged on and played Fortoresse myself (nor do I have moderation powers on there) so I haven't seen what things are like for myself, however from the amount of time I've been playing Bouboum there is barely anyone speaking English in the few populated rooms on the EN server while E2 is dead of any players. It really restricts the chances of finding viable applicants greatly.

Even if we did open applications for moderators, the moderation system for Fortoresse and Bouboum is currently broken. There's little current staff can do on these games so for now it's pointless to even hire mods.

It's just as frustrating for us as it is for everyone here. We would love to be able to hire mods for Fortoresse and Bouboum however until the moderation system is fixed we can't even begin to look for potential mods. It sucks since it means the very few people playing are discouraged from continuing to play, but for now we just have to be patient. The admins haven't forgotten about this, and even try other solutions like the Tribunal system and patching hacks, so all we can do is wait.

Thanks for the input, Whisky. I'll update the main page so it doesn't cause any more confusion.

It's just frustrating that staff with moderation powers exist but really can't do anything while these hackers run around ruining the spirit of the game.

It's weird, all players are on french server ?

No matter what, the solution will be to add more staff. Whether it be mods to supervise the game or admins to fix the bugs and patch the hacks. And finding good staff who have time to do their job efficiently is already hard enough even in TFM. You'll have to be willing to wait a long time for the whole process to take place. What will happen to the game in that time is undetermined.

I've not met the type of hacker that Solfn described. How many of them are actually out there?

There are many out there, honestly, everytime I log onto fortoresse, theres a hacker(s). Sometimes there isn't, so its usually fun to play without being instantly killed.

/support ...though I wonder if anyone would want to volunteer. I wouldn't personally want to moderate, but I hope atelier801 will make more of an effort to recruit mods for all their games, and especially fortoresse. The fly hacking was tolerable, but this one-hit-kill or whatever kind of ruins the game for me.

For now all we can do is use the command /ban username. Even though it's unlikely enough people would join in, I always do it just in case.

I'm sure there are plenty of people more than willing to volunteer, It's just a matter of the moderation system for Fortoresse getting fixed (see above) and opening applications. Bake at 350, wait a little while and vol'la. Freshly baked moderators ready to ban all the hackers when they've got the time to do so !

Of course it's not that easy.. I just hope fixing the system isn't as troublesome as it sounds.

From what I know, the moderation application has the prerequisite of the player being 18 years and older of age.

The actual moderation form asks for why you want to be a moderator, why you should be hired, why you shouldn't be hired, previous moderation experience (optional), languages, and whether your activity is changing in the future (increasing or decreasing), timezone, when you get online.

I believe they also expect some sort of proof of commitment/motivation for the game so you'll need something to say to prove you're a big fan of the game. I dunno, like contributing and reading through the Fortoresse wiki, taking a genuine interest in little things (need some examples), helping others improve and meet their personal goals, helping develop the metagame.

Of course it's up to me whether I want to volunteer. But yeah, of course we have to see whether there's an application process first.
My advice: If you feel strongly enough about this issue, then it's worth applying.

I'm pretty sure that once the moderation process begins it's actually quite busy, so you'll also need to be quite patient. I'd say across Fortoresse one new hacker case will pop up every 10 minutes, so it wouldn't be crazy like Transformice.

agreed solf, you keep doing what you're doing, just preach, all moderators ignore people, even if they're suppose to respond

Sorry, but no. Most of these examples aren't going to get you hired. Basically, the transformice equivalent to these are:
- Fort Wiki -> CFM
-helping others -> The Helpers
- develop metagame and interest in little things -> Existing playerbase

Sure being a staff member on CFM will give you something to put on the optional "have you ever moderated something before" box but other than that, whatever you contribute to a third party website is more than likely not going to help your chances on the main game moderator application. It's going to help you on the third party website.

Helping others... well in the sense you are talking about a moderator probably will not have time for that. There is already a Helper subgroup for Fortoresse so if you want to help in that sense of helping them achieve personal goals, then applying for The Helpers when they have applications open is your better bet.

And then everything else is what the userbase is for in the first place. Moderators don't change the metagame, the playerbase does. Anything that a player can think of by noticing the little details of Fortoresse they can talk about here or make a suggestion in the thread.

@Crashwolf: I would imagine that as long as the listed example "fits" mod-type duties on Transformice, it would help quite a bit, since just like when applying for a job anything that helps prove you have previous experience / can be trusted goes a long way towards at least keeping you in the running.

I highly agree, sol :)

Btw, I'm not going to play fortoresse, hopefully not forever though ;(
There has been no big updates for a long period of time, which makes fort boring.. apart from talking to friends and stuff.
It's not goodbye, but see ya later!
