I've met people who nearly have a panic attack at the sight of a snake. At that point, I'm not sure how much exposure would help, and it's definitely not my place to force them to do it. Using exposure to get rid of phobias has to be voluntary, otherwise it only makes it worse.

[let's go back to snakes, not triggers!]

You should look into getting one someday. They're not too difficult to care for once you have everything set up, and they're super calm animals :)

and so I should be forced to take extra precaution to not upset someone with a phobia, which is defined as an irrational fear, so they don't have to be forced to look at a picture of a snake?

This is the problem with stuff like this, we can't allow ourselves to bend over backwards just because one person says "this offends me" or "this scares me" or "this makes me uncomfortable." If someone can't fit into regular society because of an irrational fear, they shouldn't be given the option, they need to fix that irrational fear.

I'm afraid of heights, this doesn't mean I avoid going on planes

I also used to be afraid of writing, but I don't let that ever stop me at school.

heeeere comes a special bird!!
her name is birddog and the sole reason that the place i live in is called birdhouse is bc she merely owns this house and the people here. we do not own her.
she's a lab and a boxer and despite a couple of lil quirks she is the sweetest little thing on this planet and i love bird so much
