Luxurz a dit : I guess I can't understand cause as you said I dont see what happens BTS, but if it's spam it makes the forums look trashy so then it does cause harm. Yeah that's why I said I understand to some extent the being offline at the same time. I think it'd benefit the team and the forums if there were more timezones from aus/nz/west usa etc that way there isn't so many people offline at the same time. And yeah I get yall have lives and shit to do, but if you're so busy to the point where you're inactive for months why still stay on the team (not directed at you or anyone in particular)? Genuine question. |

I think they do their best. They don't have a lot's of time, to spend in game, but I saw, that They don't miss anything. Like others they have also life, so they dont need to spend all their time on forums, but looks like, they are do all their jobs... Well done! :3 Keep well like always! |

These sentinels are really good at there jobs. But how come only a few people get to be sents? I mean what do we have to do in order to become a sent and help clean the forums without back seat moderating. I know that you can report but it doesn't work most of the time. |

Davidwuyy a dit : Hello! I can assure you that your reports are looked at all the time. If you don't see results in favor of why you reported them, then the report is either still being discussed or we ruled against what you thought was a broken rule. Yes, you don't want to backseat moderated, but that doesn't stop you from helping users out by answering questions or reporting posts. Sentinels are official staff members of Atelier801, and thus all staff are required to be at least 18 years of age. Not only that, but you have to pass a round of applications where you're pitted against other forum users; there is no need to have a lot of Sentinels for the EN community. We hire as we need to. |

Rutabega a dit : Shouldn't there be a need to hire sents outside of the most common timezones? |

Stephspeach a dit : In my opinion, there isn't really a need to hire Sentinels out of the most common time zones. There is no reason to hire anyone with a priority on where they live in the world. If that were to happen, we would be turning away candidates with better qualifications just so that someone has the potential to be online all the time. Everyone puts a different amount of time into being a staff member, so there is no guarantee those in different time zones would even be available during the hours others would. Also, considering this is the EN section of the forums, it makes more sense to have people in similar time zones to most of the active EN community. I would say there's definitely nothing wrong with hiring those outside of primarily English-speaking countries, but, again, hiring all around the world is not prioritized. |

Rutabega a dit : I didn't mean to "hire people outside of EN - speaking countries", I just meant such as places as NZ/AUS/western USA they have different timezones and could be online at times when GMT-0 sents aren't even if it's just 2 or 3 seeing as we have 10+ in the "common timezone". But I must disagree with you on the matter because there are times when all active sents are offline/busy at the same time so it leaves the forums a mess for a few hours which can be annoying. how they handle it is fairly well. i wouldn't say perfect, but some do an outstanding job, while others... well, you know what i mean. |

Stephspeach a dit : Then, I can assure you (without specifically indicating where everyone is from, just in case they don't want it shared) that we have a number of Sentinels from different countries or areas that you mentioned. |

My biggest criticism about the sentinels is not their responding time or the way they handle certain situations, but their lack of coordination between communities on the forum. Each forum has different rules, different sub-forums and different views on what is considered controversial and what not. Of course, sometimes forums have to be adjusted to fit the ethos of different communities but each community is vastly different and the sentinels act quite differently too. I think it makes everything unnecessarily complex and ineffective for users who have dual-nationalities or those who are bilingual and causes more problems than good. I also think the sentinels come across as a bit rigid at times, and a bit more of an involvement with the community would do wonders. When they are locking threads with the ever known ''please do not create spam threads'' or giving the same standard reply when responding to problems or deleting posts, they come across more of a glorified Reddit automoderator than an actual human being at times, which I think alienates regular users from forming an opinion on them or dehumanises them to the point that people don't have any respect for what they do. |

Hello all! Thank you all for your comments, knowing what users think helps us improve and it's always good to have feedback. Stephspeach a dit : We will always vote in favor of someone who has a good application and seems fit for the position rather than someone who is living in a country with a specific timezone, which in the end doesn't really matter because not all of us have the same schedule. I live in a country with a GMT -04:00 timezone (I believe that's EST?), but I sleep at 7 am and wake up at 6 pm, for example, so if they were to hire me for my timezone they would be hugely disappointed. Extraordinary a dit : I strongly believe rules should be made based on the community there is rather than just having a standard set of rules for everyone. Especially when we have so many communities with different people who have different cultures, ideologies, etc. It might be difficult for those who speak several languages and frequent two or more communities, but in the end, having different rules benefit the majority of users, as some rules are unnecessary in some communities while they're essential in others. Regarding us being ridig/acting like robots, I'll bring this up with the team and hopefully we can find a solution. |

Extraordinary a dit : Well, what exactly do you expect them to say when they do close something like a spam thread? You can write a 2 paragraph story about how spam threads clutter the forums, but at the end of the day people won't even bother to read such a huge warning. I personally don't see the issue with having standardized replies as long as they contain the necessary information. For those who require more information, they can always contact the Sentinel team or use the Q&A thread. If you are active on these forums you can see that several Sentinels, some more than others, actively engage with the community. They don't just close threads and sanction people, you can also find them in the EN chat thread for example, to just chat. You also find some of them in the Off-topic section, Fan-art section, Map editor section or Module section, just because they're interested in those topics and like to talk to other people about these things. All of this aside of their moderation duties. So I don't really know where this impression comes from but in my opinion it's not accurate. Dernière modification le 1499295660000 |
