Excessive harrasment, homophobia and death threat in Turkish community |

Hello, As I play this game time to time, I have been receiving death threat and excessive insults in Turkish community and due to the lack of moderators in that particular server, there's not a chance of banning and/or muting these players at the time. I know there's a command not to get messages from them, but they keep coming back with new accounts and also make their friends bully me because of my sexual orientation which makes it so frustrating and overwhelming everytime. Not to mention this unacceptable behavior is not only towards me but all LGBTQIA+ individuals. Moderators are only allowed to use their powers internationally if it's a hack report, this is completely reasonable considering that they might not be able to understand the conversation/dialog properly. On the other hand, administration has to acknowledge the fact that hate crime is being committed and people are getting seriously bullied, being exposed to violence and it's really not the best thing Atelier801 can do to turn these people down by saying they should use /ignore command. Thank you. |

I'm so sorry to hear that. It's really saddening to see people going as far as sending death threats to others. Like, I don't wanna believe it. You should immediately report people who are breaking the rules. Even if TR mods miss the reports, I'm sure moderators from other communities will take care of them. As for the lack of moderators in TR community, the Turkish moderators are aware of the fact that there is a deficiency in moderators as well. That's why applications for the TR Mod team are currently open in hopes of adding more people to the team. Hopefully, that won't be the case anymore. As for the insults and stuff, unfortunately, the TR community has been like that ever since I started playing this game back in 2012. There are so many hackers, bullies, simply toxic individuals in the community. In TR rooms, I see many underage kids, teens, and even adults bullying, cursing, basically going off on others. It saddens me, but that is the truth. I almost quitted the game, because I was being manipulated, bullied, and even harassed by older people at the time. I even almost lost my account because of a guy. That is why I've been playing in EN rooms for years just to escape from that environment. Like, I simply didn't wanna be there. Even in 2021, there are people hacking, tries to bully, or being toxic to others. I have no doubts that the moderators are doing their best to keep the game at peace, but I'm done seeing people getting bullied or harassed, I can't take it anymore. I really want TFM to be a peaceful environment where everyone can have fun and actually enjoy to play, but apparently, that isn't everyone's desire. Dernière modification le 1612099200000 |

Aurion a dit : Moderators from other servers don't have the allowance to take action when it's not a hack report in question -which makes sense, as they don't understand Turkish. That is why administration has to produce platforms where moderators will have the ability to see and check reports also impose sanction without actually logging into the game. This will make sanctions quickly imposable and even lessen the burden of moderators. It's quite rude to say someone they are supposed to give extra effort not to be harrassed or assaulted when something can be done to stop people spreading death threat around. Vaporous a dit : Good point, I hope admins will do the necessary. |

I'm sorry to see how these people treat you, it's disgusting af. My friend quit cause she was bullied to the tip and no offenders have gotten muted/banned. Moderation doesn't give a single flying fuck about this and they are doing nothing to handle this situation. I'm truly disappointed in tfm and their moderation team. The amount of flaws for tfm is off the roof and mods don't do anything aside from banning hackers. I hope someone sues this company AND their game. TFM, do BETTER. |

Ynnah a dit : It is quite obvious that the administration isn't taking hate crime seriously and using /ignore command as an excuse for that. The command has been in use for many years now, but I don't see any updates or developments on how to avert bullying. It is even more hypocrisy and insincerity that they publish all that items with rainbow and don't even care about how LGBTQIA+ individuals are treated. As much as I agree with you about moderation, I need to say that it's not completely their fault that they are mostly dealing with hackers and not bullies. It is the administration that needs to take action to disburden moderators so that they will have enough time to check all reports. We can not put all the blame on moderators who are volunteering to work with a useless Modopwet system to make the game 'better' in their own way. Any kind of platform you publish on the internet has to be applying to the basic human rights and it is your own legal responsibility to protect these rights. Upon your request, I've contacted my lawyer and we're going to examine the whole international law about games and see if it has ever been violated by Atelier801. With the current events happening in Turkey, I suggest the staff to take cautionary measures and act against homophobia and transphobia in the Turkish community. We’re currently facing police violence and a smear campaign involving many politicians. As Turkey becomes increasingly more dangerous for LGBTQIA+ people, the need for safe places online arises, therefore, I call admins and/or other higher staff to take special care in the Turkish community. Don’t let our voices be unheard. |

Olimpik a dit : What you're saying has nothing to do with what we speak. We're addressing the problems with Turkish community on the game. It has been toxic ever since I started playing, and I'm sick of it. As for the LGBT community, this isn't about religion. This is about respecting people's rights. You can't target people because of their sexual orientation. LGBTQ people exist and always will be, and you'll learn to deal with it. Dernière modification le 1612733760000 |

it must be very hard for u to be lgbt in turkey but u really shoudnt spread that u are one of them (i lived in lesvos for many years, until 2018 so i can confirm that). i was also harassed by turkish people when i lived in greece cuz my tribe name was "princess of greece" so lotta of them used to piss me off but theres nothing u can do but putting them on your blacklist. suing them is waste of time cuz screenshots can be manipulated and tfm wont give u their IPs so just ignore them Dernière modification le 1612632540000 |

I don’t know what you people are on about but this topic was never meant to get all politic like that. All we wanted was to raise awareness. One’s culture does not define how online platforms are run. Turkish Law states that the nation is a secular republic, I want you to look that up Olimpik; therefore, Turkey is bound to no religious system in terms of how its government operates. Do not make this into a political issue you have with Turkey or some personal grudge you hold against the LGBT community in Turkey as it is just so immature and hateful. |

Olimpik a dit : Addressing a situation that we oftenly encounter doesn't mean making a sweeping statement. I don't see myself or anyone else generalizing what LGBTQIA+ individuals have to face in Turkish community even after receiving all the hate comments and getting sexually assaulted. You have to respect everyone who are born with 'different' sexual identities and/or orientation whether you are Muslim or not. And that has nothing to do with what you believe in or your country's politics. It is stated that LGBTQIA+phobia is forbidden in the Turkish community rules here. This person that I quoted is the living proof of what we have to deal with every single time we get online. Dernière modification le 1612733820000 |

one thing that should be noted, people in Turkey aren't the only ones who speak Turkish, so even if Turkey was inherently anti-LGBT, it doesn't matter, the TFM rules aren't the Turkish government laws in the same way the EN rules aren't the American Government laws, I wish they were, as then we'd have perfect free speech rules, but TFM isn't bound by the American standards of free speech, much in the same way they're not bound by Turkish law or societal standards. In short, you don't play on for example, the Turkish server because you are Turkish, you play there because you speak Turkish. As such, country standards have no role in TFM's rules. |

I'm not quite sure why no staff member from higher positions isn't responding to this discussion, as this issue is a lot more important to me than anything that recently popped up. Ensuring your players a healthy gameplay and a safe space to chat is essential. It is beyond doubt that Transformice Administration and Moderation haven't been enough successful forcing the chat to apply to individual rights and freedoms and them also ignoring this thread will not get us anywhere for sure. As well as coming up with problems I addressed, I would like to recommend solutions and discuss what could be done. Solution: Atelier801 needs to stop using moderators like slaves immediately. Give them improved equipments and sources they need. (You're not paying them, you're not promoting them. So I don't really understand how this is not looking a bit weird to you.) I do agree with Vaporous here. What the moderation needs is some sort of a corpus on sensitive matters including every language that they can just look up, that way they would have an idea of who is being offensive without having to actually know the language. If you think that’s not enough, then I should remind you of communication and how it’s important in teamwork, since moderators belong not only to their individual community’s teams but also to the Atelier801 in-game and on-forum management as a whole, which means that they are to work in harmony. As I observed, there is basically no unity in the moderators team. I don’t see why anyone would volunteer to moderate this game as it only has, as Vaporous also stated, prehistoric tools that do not really assist mods whatsoever. This thread was not meant to be a platform to criticize A801 management or the staff and their poor performance, but they really need to hire, and yes HIRE, pay some mods who will do their jobs and have good performance; they need multilingual moderators so that they can take action in more than one community. Also, what about those so-called helpers who allegedly “help” as their name suggests? Mods should refer to them in their specific communities when handling foreign matters when there is literally no one else to take action. You do have some resources that you’re not taking advantage of for absolutely no reason. I know some staff member now finally come here to shut us all up now that I talked about them, and hopefully they will also address LGBT issues and how it’s NOT handled in the TR community. |

Hello everyone! I want to start this by saying that we're truly sorry that you guys had to go through this. Also know that this is EN forum. We, as TR mods, don't always check other forum threads than TR. This is our responsibility and it directly concerns TR staff so it would've been more appropriate if this thread was opened on TR forum or even before that, please know that you could always put all of us in forum DM or you can contact us on Discord. TR is the third crowded community, yet the staff members we have are less than every other communities out there. We've always acknowledged this and we always try to expand our staff members as mod applications are already open now. Unfortunately, after all these years, we have a hard time finding a fitting candidate to help us in order to make our server more peaceful. As it is now, it's obvious that none of us are capable to deal with every situation. This is not OK and we are already aware of it. It's also hard and tiresome for us to deal with these kind of things because we can't just sanction someone by looking at a screenshot or a chatlog that sent by a player. We have to be sure before applying a sanction to a player and it can only be done if it's seen by us. I don't remember you talking about this with me or any other TR mod. (Correct me if I'm wrong) I don't want to comment on the current political situations in Turkey regarding these situations and we know that some players are already exploiting this even more than before but please know that we are always more extra careful when it comes to homophobia, pedofilia, inappropriate sex talk and player harassments. Please don't hesitate to talk to us about these sensitive stuffs. We can't always see and respond to in-game chats. For clearer and faster communication, please use Discord or forum DM. We are here to help as much as we can! TR Staff Dernière modification le 1612728720000 |

Thank you for your response. a dit : This thread isn't mean to complain about TR staff but to touch upon a very sensitive subject and how basic human rights are being violated. a dit : While I had been being exposed to violence, there were 2 Turkish moderators online who I tried to contact through DMs in-game and it did end up me getting no feedback at all. I very much understand that they might be busy with other things or getting spammed by trollers, so that I did not and will not blame any Turkish staff member for not responding me in-game. However, we're being told that we should contact you on forums which is frustrating considering that we're the injured party in this particular situation. Acknowledging at the time you'll see our messages it will be too late to take an action is kind of what we're expecting you to do. a dit : It would be pretty unfair to expect 4 volunteers to handle all the reports & people who are causing a lot of trouble 24/7. So that I stated & called administration team, to make perfomance-related changes immediately. It honestly sounds weird that you have to chase hackers, flooders & spammers while all that Anti-Hack companies and advanced configurations are literally everwhere. Not to mention that the profit your efforts generated that you cannot utilize. |
