Sharpmuffinz a dit : Tbh, no one has presented a coherent argument to my original post YET. They keep commenting half-baked, third grade level sentences that I already pre-refuted when I wrote the original post. SAD! |

Trrrrixie a dit : The fact that mods are quickly liking these comments is quite concerning since it appears no one regularly utilizes this dated form of communication. But to refute your weak point, many of the people who have commented in this thread have said they have no problem being appropriately punished for what they’ve done. The issue is that there is a lack of consistency across the board when it comes to mutes and/or bans. Someone being rude is a part of life and I suggest you get used to it rather quickly because your lack of comprehension (this entire thread that you clearly did not read and understand) will make you a target. |

Everyone commenting here needs to remain civil and polite, or we are going to remove comments or potentially close this discussion. Talking about moderation is a valid topic, but calling peoples' ideas dumb and using sarcasm instead of polite responses is unnecessary. |

I don't see how moderating comments that have seriously deviated from the topic and bring nothing to the discussion if not for (not-so)subtly crafted insults is excessive. Constructive messages in a civil tone will be left untouched. |

I find it funny that no one is reading this thread, just posting about how dumb everyone is for wanting to see change in a game that they care about. Just roll your eyes and keep it moving like everyone else clearly has. We are trying to have an actual discussion here and your lowercase “hUrR dUrR i CaN gUeSs WhO dIdN’t ReAd ToS” posts aren’t doing anything to stimulate discussion about Candycain’s original post. |

Keerstens a dit : Yep! 1. The comments aren't made in good faith. 2. They aren't made to be stimulating. 3. They're logical fallacies. 4. They're an attempt to coopt and diminish a thoughtful discussion. |

Candycain a dit : Sorry, for my mental health I haven't been reading the thread too much. I'd rather not obsess over responding for the next week! I'm happy to talk in private with people who really want to have a discussion and not a one-way rant, but responding to a dozen angry posts is stressful, and most people reading this thread just want to make angry posts without reading mine ^^' I will self-advertise though and say that this tab in the Staff FAQ that we added recently does mention more of how staff work. At least, the goal is to try to provide more information that players may not be aware of, like that we have guidelines to follow for how long to sanction, and also that sanctions increase with successive offenses (which may make them seem more harsh, but there is a reason for it). As far as I know, the sanction guidelines haven't significantly changed in a long time, it's always been like this. |

Katburger a dit : Hey, I do want to say I appreciate your responding, considering any mental health challenges you've been facing. On the other hand, the implication that engaging in a discussion with players who are raising legitimate concerns would result in a "one-way rant" is pretty condescending, and it continues to show (ironically) the moderation team has no interest in a discussion of the topics raised here. I'm actually quite surprised you chose to be condescending after lecturing people commenting here about keeping the thread "polite." Anyway... If "responding to a dozen angry posts is stressful," you probably shouldn't be a Sentinel. Don't you think? That's literally your volunteer job. "As far as I know, the sanction guidelines haven't significantly changed in a long time, it's always been like this." That would be incorrect - at least in terms of interpretation of said guidelines. Katburger a dit : Katburger a dit : Not to be sarcastic in anyway, but you say to keep our responses civil then claim we are just having one-way rants, and making angry posts, when the majority of us have been civil until arguments that were clearly condescending and not really arguments, just dismissive comments, started to come in. so are you implying only those defending the mods/admins are allowed to make rude and sarcastic comments then? |

Katburger is an unbelievably qualified sentinel, I have known her since the very beginning of these forums and I can say without a doubt she is the most understanding sentinel, maybe even the most understanding staff member this game has to offer. She will listen to what you have to say if you message her. |

Mousechris a dit : I find this difficult to believe considering what she chose to comment. That being said, we're getting into the weeds here. Please stay on message, because this conversation is important, even if the other side isn't engaging in good faith. Thank you |

I already know I'll be under fire for simply being ex-staff, but this is disappointing to see every kind of response to you that doesn't agree with your train of staff hate being shot down and called irrelevant. I understand improvement is always there/needed and feedback is important, but your approach to this is disappointing and it seems like the only right answer is someone agreeing with you. That is not beneficial in the slightest, and if you started this kind if discussion, you have to be understanding of the other side as well. |

Stormbreaker a dit : Kiki a dit : Trrrrixie a dit : I dont see how it isn't fair of candycain to shut down these "arguments" when they just clearly show that they didnt read through the thread before bringing up their opinion. It's hard to have a proper discussion though since the opposing side also just shuts down every single point brought up as well. So as you said, it is not beneficial in the slightest, and they need to be understanding of our side as well. |

I think the discussion should be changed entirely imo. For example I don't think the staff are too harsh, my views are they're letting personal politics interfere with how they moderate. Though I'm not gonna say anymore than that because I've already addressed this with Matza. So there needs to be like a staff complaint thread, this is more a staff complaint thread about one specific view. Dernière modification le 1615169820000 |

Minkee a dit : A coherent argument hasn't been raised by the other side. We've only received criticism for tone or delivery. It's like when black people protest in the streets and they're told "you're making too much noise." And when they kneel during the national anthem, they're told they're being "disrespectful." There is no right way to be critical, even constructively, because we were ignored before, and now that we're being a little louder, we're being dismissed or attacked. And when we respond in kind, we're the bad guys. Nope. I'm not buying your argument. And what is particularly sad is that once again, you're another ex mod choosing to comment on tone rather than the issue at hand. Really? Not one person has an alternate perspective on over-moderation outside of the one-off, half-baked dismissive sentences? Nearly everyone on the opposing side has presented thoughtful, comprehensive paragraphs. Your comment is another in bad faith. Please do better. Dernière modification le 1615169880000 |
