So there's many hackers on transformice. Moderators are usually not online, even if we voteban, or report, there's never enough proof since hackers disappear quickly ;o; And most people won't even voteban I think we should have a time-bot/time recorder button. Where like, a button is next to the player's time as they got into the hole, and once you click the button, the button/script thingy compares with other user's time and/or will record how the user went into the hole if the user had fly or trampoline or instant cheese hacked, they will be automatically banned / IP-Banned for an hour (if no mods are online or paying attention) *-* This can be useful for bootcamp especially, when others try to get titles, but a hacker or so gets the cheese more then 50 times, with so many titles already. Comment /support if you agree, Maybe but.. (your sentence) why you think it's equal chance, or just no if you don't agree ^-^ Pictures will be posted to show c: |

I think having a way to detect obvious hacks and auto-ban would be pretty nice, but there are cases where it might not be so simple. Part of the reason its so easy to hack transformice is because transformice trusts the game client, so if you send a fake packet to transformice that you are randomly in another position, the client will trust that even when its impossible to do that. This puts a lot of load off of the server and on the client in terms of handling physics calculations (if it didn't do this, lag and too much demand on the server would make it impossible to play transformice), but makes transformice vulnerable to hacking to the point that hackers seem to be commonplace. The problem with automatically detecting hackers and banning them is that you have to be careful of false positives, you don't want to accidentally ban people legitimately. One way obvious hacking could be detectable is to store map completion times for each map in a database, and after you have lots of data, ban people who do the map way too fast. The method for doing this would need to be tweaked, because you want to avoid false positives, or banning people who legitimately complete the map. Of course, it could simply alert a mod when this happens, so that the moderator can watch the player and ban for hacking. This would prevent mice from just quickly teleporting to the hole, forcing them to be more subtle. Another way for certain hacks would be to track spawned objects (and allow for a spike in spawned objects if the user has hard mode), if the shaman manages to spawn way too many in a given timeframe, the system could autoban the user. This prevents the ridiculous cannon spam hack and other flagrant abuses. Keep in mind that automatically detecting hacking is not simple, and it is problematic if that system ever bans players that aren't hacking. |
