Take your friendship to another level !

In my previous thread here I presented the idea to re-imagine the friend list system to make it better and logical. My idea is to put a friendship request system into the game while building a new request system with a notification center.

I've played a lot of games and you'd always ask people to befriend you (just like you'd do in real life when you get a mutual relationship instead of a one way relationship like the actual system does right now.). By doing this, you avoid random people from adding you for no reason and put a real meaning to ''friend list''.

Also, this would prevent people in the chat or in the whisper tab saying ''username was added to your friend list'' while they're waiting for you to reply (Which I find awkward).

Having a one way system like that can also let you slip away from adding someone to your friend list if you don't see their message right away (So you need to scroll back to the top of the chat to make sure you don't miss anything).

Someone also told me it would be annoying to always get requests but I think it could be a nice addition to the game and you could always have the option to ''Ignore all requests'' or ''Ignore username request'' from popping up on your screen all the time.

But with a request system comes the problem of having tabs opening up any time. (just like when you get asked to trade. Instead of having it pop up on your screen, I think it could be nice to have a small notification center somewhere in the interface below the game (So you'd get no distraction while you're playing survivor or some elaborated map).

This way, the friend list is reinforced and the request system improves the ability to play the game without any distraction.

Thanks for the feed back !

I would suggest to incorporate this notification center in a new tab alongside the Friendslist / Blacklist interface. It feels more natural here. You'd see a convenient list of pending requests that you can either accept, reject, or ignore. Optionally, you can receive an alert in your bottom right corner (similar to receiving a letter) when there's a new request.

This makes sense.

I agree, this could be a nice addition ! I think we need to smooth things out a bit and have less invasive things for the gameplay.

I still don't understand why they did not have a system like that to begin with instead of whats currently in the game.

Yeah I found it pretty weird too, it's not really a friend list if we consider it for a moment

The only "friend request system" we have is to personally ask someone in whispers.
For those who currently have one-way friends, there should be an option to send one-ways a request or remove them from the friend list.

I would suggest attaching reasons you want to add someone to the request itself, but that has more consequences than benefits.

That's a nice add on to have them deleted so you can have full control of your friend list, unlike the present system who does the opposite.

I kind of already like the system the way it is, it lets you know when someone is online and gives people a free choice of whether or not they want to be friends with another person, especially if it's over time. It also lets you refer to someone later, in case they don't want to be friends at the time but you still want to talk to them. It's true that this may make the friendlist more meaningful but at the same time it's kind of awkward in its own way.

I do see where you're going with this suggestion, and it's one that I respect, though. It's well thought out and definitely makes sense to me, and the way this works in other games is usually pretty well

I never understood the purpose of having someone added onto your friends list and them not having you added back, besides for the people who "stalk" (using the term loosely) certain individuals for numerous reasons. As you said in your OP, it only makes sense to implement a request system as most games already use this function; not only does this make sense to add, but it will also help bring Transformice on the same level of other various online games.

I agree with having some sort of notification system somewhere along the lines of what Anythin has suggested, where we would be able to scroll through all pending requests and be able to reject or accept all incoming requests, however, I would personally prefer having it somewhere that isn't in the bottom right hand corner, as that place is mostly dedicated for consumables. I would rather have a heart in the top right hand corner of the chat that glows red when you have a new request, and then the more requests that you have, the more numbers that show on the heart.

I don't really like this idea, because yeah. It's better this way but if this actually got updated of course I'd be little irritated but after a while, I'd slowly start liking it!

I mean you don't support because you wouldn't be used to it ?

I like the idea of friend requests. I can see how this would make my gameplay easier.

Exactly, it's less awkward and more forward to just have a request system and also more useful !

I heard that having your suggestion come true is a myth. Who knows maybe one day
