Prison time

I always thought it was a bit flawed to ban people and just let them go and let them do their time while they're offline. The fact that we can do our time offline is a lesson that you learn from but I always thought that having an actual prison map where you're alone in the chat would be more efficient.

Example

I used to play a game where they'd exactly do that and have the person stay online where he was isolated from everyone in the prison map until he had done his time. He could do everything but leave the map. The sentence time would only work when the person is online in the map. Here's a look from an old game that did exactly what I explained earlier :

http://img.atelier801.com/0a24f0a4.jpg

Reasons why this would work on Transformice

Doing this would obviously help the whole game and its community to enjoy the experience and make bans more serious and less frequent since nobody wants to spend 360 hours in a map alone until they can play the game again. This ensure that people will be more inclined to follow the rules to avoid prison time.

The prison map could also work for people who constantly spam the chat when muting isn't enough for them.

I know that it sounds really strict but this would help the mod a lot and give them less work to do if people want to avoid prison time while at the same time ensuring a better order in the community.

What if the person uses hacks to move and avoid being AFK ?

In the game that I displayed above in the spoiler, if the person use hacks to move its avatar, the game would make the person fall asleep while it was moving. The system would know that the person kept on pushing the same direction (AKA chat block or anything else).

By making the person fall asleep, the time count would start until he's disconnected and considered fully afk. I don't know much about hacks but if you can program yourself to move with different patterns, that would be the only way to dodge being active all the time your sentenced. But even so, having a prison map with the same system would let small players who don't know much about programs and hacks complete their sentence like we want to (By being active during the whole sentence and learning his lesson).

Plus, even if the person hacks and does his time without playing the game, the person still has to have Transformice open and need to complete his sentence. If he does it again, the mods will just put him back in prison and the the time again (with maybe a longer sentence).

If you find it useless even after all of that, it still creates more trouble for the people who don't respect the rules.

Thanks for the feedback !

I think the idea is unique but what is to stop players from just going offline while they are in the prison? I don't see how something like this would actually be enforced since players can either just go offline or just sit AFK and wait for the time to past.

I know but it gives more trouble to the person.Maybe he/she doesn't always go on his computer and has limited time to spend on Trasnformice. This makes it even more time consuming for them to finish their time. If you just sit AFK you'll get disconnected like it does at the moment if you're AFK too long.

I also know of some games where they've done something like this, and it seems more successful than just not letting them play until they've waited x number of days without playing. If there was a prison, they would have to work hard and wait a long time to show that they won't be bad again. This makes players more likely to think twice before they go download a hack and the ones that for instance join only to spam, they probably won't bother to spend their time so they can come back.

Exactly ! When I was younger and played the game I showed below, I would really get scared if I did something bad. I'd either be scared and do it while getting caught or restrain from doing anything !

It's blablaland, it's a french game though. It's been inactive with a player base of 200 people since 2012 :/ It was really fun and well crafted :)

I would rather have a system where once a player goes offline, their ban pauses until the player tries to comes back online, and then resumes from there.

Yeah that's exactly what I want, sorry I might have skipped this detail in my first post !

You can just have a tool move for you tho so you don't get disconnected.

No support towards this as it's not gonna stop people from breaking the rules. People are aware of punishments and don't care.

Of course there's a way to dodge the sentence but not everybody will go this far. It gives more trouble for people who don't have the hacks to move constantly. In the other game I played, if a player wouldn't move or would always push the same direction for too long, it's character would fall asleep and then disconnect because it would count as being AFK. Unless the hack let's you move different ways with different pattern, then it wouldn't work for them because it would know the player is AFK
