I often hear in survivor submissions that some maps are just "boring" and while i can understand a flat plank covering the whole map to be boring, (oh wait, that's an official map!) I don't really get what it means. does it have to have some "wow" factor like the new map with moving platforms? but most of the time people try innovating they call it "not suitable for survivor" -so what i'm asking is; what makes a survivor map boring or not boring? |

What makes a Survivor map boring is the layout of the map, depends on how many grounds or objects put it in there, the less grounds, the more likely a Survivor Map is boring. (Usually applies to older maps)... What makes a Survivor map more fun is the amount of effort it put for a map in which everyone has an equal game play and more proactive. |

You can not compare old maps to new maps. The reviewing process as well as the standards for the in-game map rotation has changed heavily over the years, comments we make for new maps will 99% of the time speak against all of the old maps due to the big change in these standards. As a Mapcrew member of survivor I can tell you that there is no way we can tell you exactly what to do and what not to. I'd never recommend a mapmaker to submit survivor maps that only has 1-4 grounds, as they are usually very boring. However, less grounds doesn't necessarily mean boring, it's all about the layout and the overall gameplay and experience of playing on the map. A map with mechanism can be cool and original, but that doesn't mean that it's suitable for survivor. Certain things are better left out of this gamemode. For a very long time I thought that mechanism had no place in survivor at all, though I recently permed a map that has mechanism because that one concept actually worked out pretty well. I believe that most things can work in survivor, as long as you execute them properly. I personally always encourage P10/P24 mapmakers to try out new ideas and concepts in maps, as a Mapcrew it's interesting for me to see all the ideas the players has for the game mode I like the most. I want to make sure that the survivor rotation consists of maps that are well-made, as well as enjoyable and exciting to play on. The survivor crew always welcome new and innovative ideas. I'd also like to mention that over the years a whole lot of maps has been submitted for survivor and we often get the same kind of maps submitted over and over again, which is why a lot of the comments say that the map is boring. It's a shame we have to reject so many maps, but it is indeed very hard to create new and exciting layouts. Dernière modification le 1549732980000 |
