oh i guess ill reply to this because i like ranting/debating and all that crap

video games, can be good AND bad for you, some games, help you read like animal crossing. other games are about stratagy and skill (like bullet hell games).
other games, like cod or halo can be bad, they have violence in them and they can just screw over your mind.
some games, like transformice, can be used for skill and maybe even to kill time off your hands.

either way, video games have pros and cons, you just gotta watch out what type of genre you choose~

COD and Halo aren't bad games because they have violence in them...

Violence is NOT BADit entertains people and it lets you learn how to stratigize.

Violence isn't bad? So if violence isn't a bad thing can I go and cut off my sister's head with a chainsaw and dropkick it into a goal while shouting GOOOOOOOOOAAAAAALL like I saw in a video game?

As long as this doesn't get heated, I'll be interested to see everyone's thoughts.

I recently read about this study that says that video game frustration, not video game content, causes aggression. Thoughts?

I was talking about video games...

But video game are good for you still,all Genres of them.

I think Video Games can go either way.

Pros: Video gaming can help youngsters read and possibly learn teamwork, like The Wonderpets on the DS, for example. They can also help you with skills, such as the game Super Smash Brothers. They are also a nice thing to play if you have time on your hands.

Cons: They can ruin your mind, like Violent games such as Halo and Left4Dead. Others just cost frustration, such as Portal when a puzzle gets rough.

Me personally, I love Video Games. I play them all the time >w<

Video games can be beneficial in developing cognitive aspects such as improving the efficiency of pre-strategizing, puzzle solving, heightened attention to detail, faster reflexes.

They're also addictive and can detrimental to our health physically and mentally. We can forget to go outside, be sleep deprived, and disregard our priorities like homework.

I believe this is true, but to a certain extent.

What if all you play is killing games, like lets say Assassins Creed or Call of Duty. Since that's all people play, they will grow accustomed to thinking killing and murder is acceptable.

When I had a ps3 all I played was GTA V and Blackops 2. I was soo obsessed with blackops 2 that it took me 5 days to prestige. I stayed up till 4am every morning and woke up at 8 just to play it. I never went to the bathroom. I never ate. All I did was sit in my room and play blackops. My ps3 finally broke from overheating aka Red Light of Death. And Ill admit. I was obsessed, addicted, and craved for cod. Since then, I have actually had a life.

Video games haven't done anything to me. I don't think about them even if I play them much.

Of course video games can cause damage to a person mentally and somewhat physically, but that's only because the person let it happen. Also, depending on what video game you're playing the result can be either more aggravated or just a basic issue; nonetheless problems shouldn't be existent due to video games but that's what it has come down to these days unfortunately.

Games can be good. I'm 99% sure that it helps your eyes. :3

Being a smart ass on the internet? No, I'm just stating a fact which I think may or may not be true.

Video games are suppose to be enjoyable. If you play for fun and have fun, you aren't doing anything wrong and it's not bad. However, if you're a punk and think what people do in games is what you should do in real life then, it's probably bad for it.

Violence has been proven to negatively effect young minds. Which is one of the reasons as to why games have different ratings for them...
