Can't be arsed reading through this thread so don't know what has already been said. Foolproof method for losing weight: Step 1 - Calculate your TDEE (total daily expenditure of energy). There are numerous calculators for this online. This will vary depending on your height, weight and physical activity. Step 2 - Eat 500 calories less than your TDEE every day. You will lose approximately 1lb per week. If you are not, then the most likely explanation is that you are not counting the calories you eat correctly. Remember every snack adds up. Step 3 - Lift weights. Do not be put off lifting weights, even if you are a girl. Lifting weights will help preserve any muscle mass you have. Do not be afraid that you will "get too bulky", this is not going to happen. If you lose weight and do not preserve muscle mass you will just end up looking like fat attached to bone and this is not attractive for either gender. Don't be afraid of lifting heavy, this will help preserve the most muscle mass. Step 4 - Eat lots of protein. Eating lots of protein will help to preserve the muscle mass you currently have. Step 5 - Do cardio. Although personally I'm not a big fan of cardio, it is a great way increase your TDEE and thereby increasing your total calorie deficit and lose more weight. Step 6 - Stay dedicated. It is not good just sticking to a diet for 1 week. It is a long term thing. Fruit and veg are of course good for keeping healthy but you can lose weight with or without them, just remember these also count towards your total daily calorie intake. Fast foods and fizzy drinks obviously have high calorie content so it is always best to avoid them, even diet drinks (there is a lot of research suggesting these can actually be detrimental to weight loss although I don't care to cite any sources). Whilst losing weight, don't expect to get a 6 pack or gain any muscle. It is very hard to gain muscle whilst losing weight. Gaining muscle will usually require a surplus of calories which is why body builders often do what is know as a "bulk and cut". Meal timings, for the most part is irrelevant. Although there are some studies which seems to indicate intermittent fasting can be beneficial in losing weight and gaining lean mass whilst also having several other health benefits. Intermittent fasting is simply where one fasts for a large portion of the day (say 18 hours) and eats their alotted calories in the remaining period (say 6 hours). Be patient! It takes time! No one ended up looking like what you see in hollywood movies over night and even 90+% of them (at least for male roles) are often aided with the use of steroids and other substances. |

Mintyblue a dit : Losing weight is all about having a deficit of calories, whether that is through increase in exercise or reduction in intake Edit1: After reviewing this thread there are a couple of points. There is little evidence to suggest detoxes are in any way effective. Most are a waste of money and some can even be dangerous. Starvation is not a good idea, not because it "slows your metabolism", this not entirely true. Your body will not "hang on to the extra calories" such that there become a point that you won't lose weight as quickly. What will happen is your base metabolic rate will drop. The effects of this is your body will require less energy throughout the day but at the cost of your motor skills, physical strength, physical endurance and reflexes. You are at risk of a substantial shrinkage in heart volume, you're heart rate will drop and your overall body temperature will drop. Sexual function has also been shown to reduce significantly and in some cases become non-existent. You will, in general, feel like s**t. This will not happen overnight but over a couple of weeks of a significant calorie deficit. I would advise against eating at a calorie deficit of more than 500-700calories. Once eating at normal levels again, metabolism is rarely significantly different from what is was previously, with most changes being accounted for through loss of weight. |

Bouncytree a dit : exercise* I seem to have some problems putting weight on, but once I get some on, I can't manage to lose it. But, I usually eat less, exercise a bit more, eat 5-a day then BOOM. |

How to lose weight: step one: accept/love you and your body for how it is because that is you and you are beautiful. step two: weigh/measure yourself and find out what your BMI is. step three: find an appropriate diet/exercise routine for you. step four: stock up on vegetables and fruits and throw out/stay away from junk/processed/artificial foods. step five (optional): i'd recommend a diet cheat day, but remember to limit yourself. step six (optional, but recommended): get a buddy who wants to lose weight to help and/or diet/exercise with you. step seven: motivation. buy some nice clothing that you can wear after weight loss. put pictures all around your house. tips: plan out EVERYTHING. i'd recommend getting one of those notebooks with the calendar in it. -plan out your work out routine ahead of time. -plan out your meals for the next few months. -circle the day you start your diet/exercise -circle the day you end. (if you want) because some people usually diet for a certain amount of time. weeks/months. -Stay away as much as possible from high fructose corn syrup, foods high in fat, a lot of carbs, foods high in sugar, foods high in sodium and cheese. -always always always read the nutrition label if there is one always always always -ORGANIC GREEN TEA IS YOUR BEST FRIEND. -Eat what you like (healthy ofc) because you're not going to enjoy or might even give up if what you're eating is gross. do you like chicken sandwiches? here's a healthy alternative: whole grain bread + oven baked chicken with salt and pepper for taste + lettuce/tomato/onions/pickles/avocado you can add mustard if you want and if you don't want carbs from the bread, you can use lettuce instead. and don't add too much salt if you are putting salt. like apple pie? try apple chips: take an apple and slice it very very very thin. potato chip thin. like you can see through it. put it all in a bowl and toss it around with some ground cinnamon (not a lot, about 2 table spoons at most) lay then out on a baking tray lined with parchment paper without them stacking on top of each other and bake at 250°F for 30min to an hour or until they're crispy at the top. then flip them over and bake till that side is crispy. |
