Okapi aren't related to zebras at all. The closest relationship they have is that they're both mammals.

The Okapi isnt a cross. It may look like a zebra, deer, and have the neck of a giraffe, but it’s from the Giraffe family

It has those stripes to blend in better with the grass, the deer-colored back for camouflage against the ground and surroundings, and long-ish neck to eat from trees, but it isnt a hybrid

Interesting fact: German shepherds are a breed of dog which was produced directly from selectively bred wolfdogs.

P.S. Okapis are not hybrids. They are an individually evolved species of their own, and their stripes looking like that of the zebra is merely an example of convergent evolution. Their closest relative is the giraffe.
