Just a little thread to express any problems with your computer that people who know a lot may be able to help with...

To start it off, I have a dropped shadow on my entire screen and it make TFM look weird. Any advice?

Can you take a screenshot or a picture to show what you mean?

Look at my settings:
http://i.imgur.com/9ZctNOL.png
Newtab, Newtab, Google.

Except, When I press the home button, It goes to this page instead of the new tab page. This affects starting google chrome.
---
When I press the enter button to search something, I go to a site called "DNS basic" instead of google. I am able to search google by clicking, however.

Click 'set pages' in the 'on startup' section, and clear the list.

Then go to settings > extensions, and remove any annoying toolbars or anything with the same name as that search site you keep getting to.

It probably installed when you downloaded something else, and the extension or whatever is forcing itself to be what comes up when you open chrome etcetc.

Number one was already done.

I don't use toolbars.

I got rid of the startup thing, but the DNS basic problem will still happen.

Can you take a screenshot of what's in the 'set pages' tab and in your extensions?

There are more steps that don't involve just removing it from chrome settings and stuff.

I think an important question is why on earth did you download a toolbar without looking into it first?

Go to add/remove programs like you had to do with the sweetpacks. Look for anything DNS related.
Also where you set your default search engine, go through your list of search engines and clear out the unfamiliars if you didn't already.

@Haru, she tried doing that already. Also the sweetpack toolbar thing is something that gets bundled in downloads for other software, she didn't intend to download it blahblah.

Ahhhh okay. I'm used to all those other crap toolbars. Sorry ma'am.
Clearly I'm only of use when it's Linux time.

Nothing in the extensions DNS related.

Did that-- Same result.

I have no idea whats going on. (If I might add, this started months ago, but no one would answer me anywhere, and I didn't want to post it on the forums until a corresponding thread appeared.)

Yeah it's another similar thing to that sweetpacks you had.

Here's a removal guide for it

All I had to do was remove it via control panel. Problem solved!

Thank god for such helpful people like you, and people who make helpful websites.

I remember having that problem too! I CAN'T REMEMBER HOW I FIXED IT. I've had it multiple times. It's something to do with Chrome I know that much. Try going on your control pannel and deleting any programs that look fishy. Be so careful though as you can wreck your computer by deleting the wrong thing. I usually just delete the 'Search engines' I didn't know I had.

Edit~ Oh... it's fixed. xD Well I'll keep this hear for people who might need it.
