Hikaru no Go (ヒカルの碁?, lit. "Hikaru's Go") is a story based on a board game called Go.
Written by Yumi Hotta and illustrated by Takeshi Obata
This story is responsible for making the board game Go popular amongst kids in Japan,
and in other areas such as China, South Korea, Taiwan and the United States.

Storyline:
The manga starts out with Hikaru Shindo and Akari Fujisaki searching in his Grandfather's attic for things to sell, Hikaru comes across a Go board, he intends to sell it but then he looks closer and sees a stain on the Go board, Hikaru tries to point it out to Akari but she can't see the stain. A spirit named Sai is awakened. This spirit used to play Go a long time ago, But he got banned from Go when another instructor beat him in a game. He was sad the rest of his life. Afterwards he met a boy that could see the stain( Not Hikaru, this kid came first.), Sai would play go through the child, and he decides to do this to Hikaru too. At first Hikaru doesn't want to play go, he thinks it's just for old people. When Hikaru tells Sai he doesn't not want to play, Sai's feelings from the past 1000 years go to Hikaru's stomach and he feels VERY sick. Hikaru finally gives in to playing Go. He ventures to a Go class but that doesn't go well. So he finds a Go salon, and that's where he meets Akira Toya.
