Welcome to the Starbound thread! Starbound is buyable on steam, and is an indie game in development, it's origin in the UK. It is quite similar to Terraria, but with some major differences.
First of all, you have ships that you have to fuel with coal and other sorts of fuel to travel around galaxies and planets.
Secondly, you have several galaxies to explore, the first being Alpha. As you defeat the Penguin UFO, you will unlock Beta, and so on. The last sector is known as X, the only one with varying difficulties.
Thirdly, you do not have to be a human. Currently, there are six races, known as Human, Avian, Apex, Floran, Hylotl, and Glitch. There is an upcoming race, known as Novakid.

I heard this game isn't quite as fun as it seems and costs

anyone out there who has this game, please give me a review of some sort that can convince me to buy it, I don't want to waste $15 on a game that is crap

It still in Beta, and it hasn't even been released for two months
Which is probably why there's a lot of mixed reviews
I honestly think the game is more fun on Multiplayer.
It'll be best for you to wait until a sale, or until it's out of Beta.

I want this game so badly..

I've been playing this game for hours on end day and night with friends and alone. Even after sector X and achieving the "Ulti-armor" there's still much exploration, secret items/recipes to find, and the on going challenge of finding the best weapons and collecting unique ones such as the Glitch crossbow (I got it this morning o/).

There's so much depth to this game already and it's consistently being updated with new content with a lot of things planned in the future. I haven't had such an amazing time with a game in quite sometime.

With that said, however.. I'm actually looking for a red and/or black cape, it's escaping me every chance it gets and I wouldn't mind trading some items over a server (I could host just for the purpose of it if anyone's willing to offer) for this.

I'm also just gonna leave this here if people are curious of what I was wearing in the last picture.


- Bandit's hood. Just kill bandits dressed in black and you'll eventually get this.

- Wizard's robe top. I had to raid a glitch castle on a threat level 10 planet, came from a royal chest.

- Raven bottoms from the Avian's last tier armor. Get 77 Aegisalt bars and 77 coal, I'll craft you the set.

- Terrifying wings. A friend got me these.

I also wouldn't mind see your server, I personally really like building things. I'll take a picture of a home me and 2 others have crafted on a server as soon as it comes up.

I think it looks kind of plain, honestly.

Simplicity is good sometimes, although I wish I could dye it a different color.

That'd make it look better. The opposite colours makes it look strange to me.

I have other hats I could try with it, like let me see..

Well I don't really have anything at the moment besides a fancy dark gray fedora.

I wouldn't mind, it might be a difficult for me to manage everything such as items over two servers and single player considering my ship really isn't big enough to fit everything that I own at the moment.

Other then that, sounds like a lot of fun ^^ Although I'm sort of busy at the moment so it might have to wait till another time.

Alright. If you need to, you can create a new character. I'm still on my Alpha planets due to needing stronger armor before I move to Beta.

It would be a good idea for me to create a new character because I'd rather not ruin the experience for you of having to work your way up by giving you the best weapons right away as well as armor. The game's alot more fun when it's a challenge.

Yeah. Two of my friends had their friend give them top tier armor and weapons, pretty much ruining the whole experience, pretty much never playing.

Even after you complete the game with high tier armor and weapons, there's still alot you can do such as exploration and building. The game's far from over when it comes to item collecting as well (Thus why my ship's turned into a fashion shop).

Another thing I agree with. When I get bored of mining or whatever, I expand my base. I'm planning to have an underground village of Glitches. Or atleast try, since they're idiots and get killed by walking right into enemies.
