Most schools use exams to test students' progress but i am not in favour of exams for several reasons. In my opinion, there are three reasons why schools shouldn't use exams.

Firstly, some students are good in class but they get nervous so they never get good marks.Secondly,I think it's a bad thing to train students to remember facts for a short while.Students who get good marks in exams, but they don't have to understand the subject.

Finally,I think that exams should be realstic. In most exams, you can't use a dictionary or a calculator. But in the real world, people can use dictionaries and calculators all the time

So all in all,I think that essays and project work are more effective tests than exams.

here's my personal slice of the cake
feel free to correct me if i am mistaken

1. if students are good in class then they should have nothing to worry about when it comes to exams as exams are just there to test how much you've learned

2. students are not required to memorize facts for a short while but instead, are required to study them thoroughly and commit them to memory as stock knowledge and not as short-term memories; students who memorize the answers to the questions just for exams may not understand the topic/s completely but there is a tendency for that knowledge to become permanent

2.5 even if students forget what they've learned after exams, college/university entrance tests are never something to be taken lightly, forcing students to review everything they've learned during their time in school and get into a good college/university or become mcdonald's' employees

3. again, exams are there to test how much you've understood/mastered the topic/s so calculators are not necessary as they won't always be around to help you with work that is doable by hand

4. essays test your comprehension, projects test your creativity and practicality, exams test your overall knowledge; but as all three test your knowledge and understanding, exams encompass everything from the vaguest details to the most detailed and minor details unlike essays or projects which focus more on personal opinions/perspective on either specific ideas or vague/general ideas

tl;dr
your arguments are invalid and i am pro-examinations

You're right at several things but exams are sometimes pretty hard and good/bad student gets a bad grade. My problem is that.In our class bad students marks are like 40-50 but, active students' marks are 60-80.How fair is that!
Doing essays from calculator is not fair but,I think it is easier than working on a exam

1. students who don't study are obviously going to get bad grades so it's only fair that students get what they deserve

2. who the fuck uses a calculator for essays; and i, personally, hate essays as they're too much work compared to exams

How do you want to be prepared for 47 exams in a row. (Impossible example but still.)

Ok I understand but there's limits.

Like if you have loads of hard exams during the week revising for all of them would be hard.

+You also have a life. You can't spend hours revising either.

1. if you mean procrastination, then obviously all those exams would be hard especially with the lack of proper time to study/review; schools always give enough time to prepare for exams

2. any good students should know that school comes before parties and outings; and hours of reviewing in a day are never a good idea which is why teachers always give enough time to explain the lesson to their students partially, bit by bit, while students can read ahead in their free time

On the teacher who knows how the give exams in delay's that give enough time for the students to revise.

And the student who will know have to use this time effectivly to revise and get a good note.

1. it's part of the teacher's job to create a curriculum that provides enough time for students to review/study; if a good curriculum is not made, then it's the students' job to use their time to balance out studies and personal lives

2. i shouldn't be doing this sort of thing at 3 in the morning so i may be getting off-track

Agreed but.
This is something that some teachers lack though.

my country's curriculum is absolute shit compared to the rest of the world and yet our teachers manage to teach us everything we need to know with proper intervals for students to review

i, myself, am one of those who don't study and only listen to the teachers' lectures yet i manage to get decent scores on my exams because the teachers' ways of teaching are effective to both student and teacher
