Disney is making a new movie called Mōānā! It will feature Disney's first Polynesian princess! It'll be coming out on November 23, 2016! The movie was originally set to release in 2018, but it got bumped up in priority!

Mōānā Wāialiki (the main character) is apparently a sea voyaging enthusiast! She is the only daughter of the chief in a long line of navigators! The film is said to include demi-gods and spirits taken from real mythology.

I hope they don't turn it into a romance, that usually detracts from the storyline and gives less time to the stuff I usually want to happen in movies like this to flesh out the story.

Still, it sounds good, even if it is 4 years away :(

romance adds a bit to stories that can make the main plot so much thicker

and btw the romance added in mulan made me laugh "can I stay for dinner?" "How about you stay forever!"

women do not require men to make their lives complete that's what's wrong with it

but it's cute?... I really don't see any problem, it's a movie not a statement, something with the romance level like Frozen didn't even have a man to make them complete

besides this movie sounds more like a plot of such of Atlantis, which really had no romance in it, just, explore, protect, etc

there IS a problem with it though, it reflects on little girls that they need a man to complete their life when in actuality they dont.
but if it's gonna be like atlantis then great. atlantis was tops.

No one ever dies in Disney movies besides one time when Mufasa from Lion King died. That movie was based on the Circle Of Life so it was basically a lesson than some drama.

it seems like disney is stepping away from the whole prince charming thing, either way Im excited to see this movie come out

I don't want to sound like a Disney fanboy or something but Disney animated movies are always good, regardless of not having a great plot or focusing too much on romance. Romance isn't a bad thing imo, Tangled had a fair ammount of it and it was great, some oldschool Disney movies like Aladdin were also quite focused on the romantic interests of the protagonists.

Too bad this is coming in 2018, maybe it's a bit too early to make a thread for this? ;; The art style looks nice and the concept sounds interesting. I still have time to go and watch some of the latest movies I'm still missing from Disney, I guess three years is more than enough time for me to catch up. Oh wait, there's also Star Wars VII, which is now a Disney thing so I have until 2015 ;;

I'll definitely try to watch it if I can when its aired, seems cool
but I'll probably forget since its coming in 3 years

once the 3 years are up it will likely be a huge thing in the media so i dought it would be forgoten, it's already a big media thing now
