here's another one my personal thoughts about life and death which will may or may not answer the op's question, this is going by a different approach of thinking of 'maybe'

from every single action, thought, and breath, you are creating another life of what would have happened if you did things differently
you are the true life entity but every thing you have/haven't done or have/haven't thought creates an alternative universe for another lifetime
from just reading this you may be spawning a hundred alternative lives
the world is centered around you, but not really. because you may just as well be in somebody else's alternative life.
when you (the original life) die, everything stops. no more new alternative lives are created from your (maybe) expriences
you live to create copies of your other lives
your alternative lives may be a dead end or something brighter than what you're living right now. maybe you're a completely different person. maybe you were born in another country.

in this thinking, the answer to the question is that there is life after death, just not your life but another you until that life also dies out. you will be creating more alternative lives until you also hit a dead end like your countless other lives
