Yeeaah.
I got bored so I decided why not make a thread to talk about Ubuntu, Peppermint, Linux Mint, and others?
You can help eachother out here, talk about your first experience with a new type of Linux, share computer jokes, share your opinions, and some cool features you found out!
--Party--

My favorite type of Linux is LinuxMint.
It's well organized and kind of reminds me of Windows, but in a different form.
That's until...
I moved to Ubuntu 12.04 LTS.
At first I was like "What the f**k is this sh*t. This is madness..." when I used the basic Unity desktop session for my computer.
Handy dandy people helped me find out how to get a gnome desktop.
This story goes on forever so ye

Talk about Linux! \o/

On my laptop I use Ubuntu 14.04 LTS with Gnome 2 desktop and most of my servers also run Ubuntu.

If you plan on switching from a proprietary operating system: Linux Mint is similar to Microsoft Windows and Elementary OS is similar to Mac OS. Both are based on Ubuntu.

Linux is free, pal. And Mac is essentially a UNIX system, so it won't be uch more different. Elementary looks and feels like OSX, as Makinit said.

If I were to get Linux I would install a Debian-based OS. B-)
Honestly I'm not into Unix-like OSs as I've been using Windows for quite a lot of time (~10 years).

Linux is free.
You don't 'BUY' a Operating System... You download it and use a boot loader...
And this is a Linux topic, who said anything about Windows?
#Linux4life baby! <3

I agree. I've used Elementary before and I felt like I was using a Mac the whole time. Sadly I don't like Mac for several reasons.
But anyways.
Wanna have fun on a random shooting game called Nexuis 2.5.2?
Open the terminal (ctrl + alt + t) and type;
pawgold@pawgold:~$ sudo apt-get install nexuiz
And it will install the game. ouo
I forgot what it says in the terminal but it's been a long time that I reinstalled the game.
My username is Pawgold on there (as always)

well; To install lamp, i had to install each peice individually (Apache webserver php, mysql extensions, phpmyadmin..) and evrytime i tried install with apt-get or dpkg, i would get some dependancies problems due to the names of the files i tried install being outdated and cannot be found
evryting is working fine, just needed a newer install tutorial
Thanks for the concern

nice, ubuntu is very good for beginner, but there are far better distros once you get a grasp of the linux environment and the BASH command line syntax.

I like the UI better then the other Linux environments plus i used Ubuntu for vs purposes for my discord bot and have been familiar with it for years.
