This thread is to talk about Pokemon showdown. Pokemon showdown is a game where you get to chat with people in rooms and battle. You also get to save replays of battles. You get to choose your own battle format! You also get you make your own teams, or....on random battles format they decide a team for you. Pokemon showdown is multiplayer. I don't play on this stuff because it seems less rewarding than using the thing that you raised and made by yourself and seeing it go in action. Also because I don't follow Smogon's bullshit.

It's kinda like battle spot but there is more competitive players.

As someone who doesn't have the time to raise a bunch of Pokemon for competitive play, I really like Showdown. What about Smogon is bullshit though? I've learned a lot about strategy and competitive play from it.

Usually use showdown to test teams before actually making them in-game and random battle with friends.

I don't like most of the sets they make, and they throw Choice items on everything they can. It makes for people overusing the same sets over and over again, and everyone's using the same Pokemon anyway, so it's just not fun.

Well the sets and Pokemon are based off what players are running. Even if Smogon didn't exist people would still come to the conclusion of what Pokemon and sets function the best and are the most powerful. Then people would copy what sets wrecked them in battle and the only difference would be the competative scene would be more exclusive and harder to get into because only the hardcore players would be figuring out what's the absolute best and people not doing those intense testing would be ultimately worse off.

i dunno about you guys but i dont run choice items on any of my teams lol

Focus sash, Leftovers, Sitrus berry, and Weakness policy are most of the items I use.. I would run the weakness policy on Pokemon with a strong defense. I only use choice specs with Sylveon.
