Scarletfire's tail dragged her tail across the dusty ground. Snowstar, their leader had left on a journey and hasn't returned for many moons. The young cat sat down and silently drew a paw along her whiskers. What am I going to do... She thought worriedly, casting a glance upon the cats gathered in the clearing, huddled together speaking in quiet murmurs. Were they doubting me? When Scarletfire supressed a soft sigh and tucked her paws into her flank, she felt a tail brush along her back. Alarmed, Scarletfire whirled around seeing Shadefall. The elderly Medicine Cat held something in her usual dull eyes. Shadefall leaned forward and hissed softly into the deputies ear. "It's time for you to step up, or someone else will." Understanding at once, Scarletfire nodded and stood up, her tail flicking nervously. "All cats old enough to catch their o-own prey, gather beneath the highstone for a clan meeting!" The young deputy's voice shook with great effort but she forced her nervousness aside, relief flooding her as she saw cats look up at her and shuffling near the large stone. "It's come to my attention that RapidClan needs a new leader..." Scarletfire chose her words carefully and glanced around at the cats. "RapidClan is dead! Snowstar is dead!" A voice cried out and many other voices wailed in unison. "Stop!" Scarletfire snapped, unsheathing her claws against the cold stone. "If RapidClan is dead.. What do you want me to do.." She said quietly to herself, but was heard by a small apprentice. "A new clan!" Swallowpaw chirped. Murmurs of agreement rose among the cats and Scarletfire blinked in surprise. A new clan...
