What makes a good tribe application?

Hi!

In here, you will be able to discuss what you think is important to have in a tribe application. This will be important to you personally when you are wanting to join a tribe.

As a tribe that operates on applications, I highly care to disagree.
We don't allow just anyone in our tribe. Many people want in because we have staff and/or are seen as a "famous" tribe (rank nine currently on CFM). If we opened the doors to anyone, it would be mass chaos and highly uncomfortable.
Because we are a tight knit group that prefers to keep small rather than big, we require applications as well as a minimum of three friends in order to join the tribe to weed out those "asskissers," essentially. I realise that makes us seem elitist, but oh well. I'd truly rather the comfort of our members than the happiness of some ten year old who wants to meet his idol Noedles.

The age limit is there as well because we talk about well...inappropriate stuff. It's a private chat, it's permitted. If I wanna talk about drinking or sex or call someone some really nasty words, then that's my right in my tribe chat. I'm not going to clean myself up just because someone underage is in my tribe.

We've been talking (meaning members who handle applications) about what makes a good application to join. I personally feel that age, name/what you like to be called by, preferred pronouns, hobbies outside of TFM and reasons to join the tribe are the most important.

I think that tribes with age limit and other requirements are ideal, as Haru said above, it is better to have a comfortable stay in the tribe rather than a really young kid trying to meet his idol.

In my opinion, Age limit varies as long as the kid is good and mature enough.

I think what you have right now is good, but something that I added recently to my tribe's applications was to include contact information in case they go inactive.

I personally don't think these should be included in a tribe application, unless it is completely necessary. and crucial to the application process. If the person applying does not thing these are required then they can easily explain why they think so and why they are not comfortable disclosing that sort of information. On the contrary, it does show a willingness to open up to the players of the tribe that you are applying to and show's that you feel you can share yourself etc. with them. I know a few people who would probably be rather concerned about who knows this sort of thing about them, but usually it comes with time.

Personally, I disagree with the tribe application process the majority of the time. Realistically, a few lines about yourself should suffice but I think a trial period works best for recruiting the sort of player that will fit into the tribe dynamic. In our tribe, we don't really have rules and almost all ranks hold equal rights (being personalised and whatnot). This obviously has its drawbacks, but you get to know the player before granting them the full power of the other ranks. I think our model is something I haven't experienced much in (semi-organised) tribes. I could probably draw up a document by Dedax on tribe models about this if I could find it at present.

Just sharing thoughts on the matter, things work differently for every tribe.

^ I'm with Haru here, our tribe is the most famous in our server (all servers have their top tier tribe) and we're very picky because we are all +18 (with the exception of a 16 boy which is really mature) and have really an appropriate language sometimes. We had a politic of open doors in the past but we had great problems. We do may seems picky, but if somebody asks to join we discuss it and stalk them for a period to see how they behave and then we discuss again and take a final decision. It takes a long time to see somebody's true self.

And to avoid problems thate is only one member of the tribe that can put a veto on somebody without explaining why (Layora, being staff if she's not confortable with someone she has some form of priority on denying an application without explaining why) and only one member that can kick out players without explaining why (that's me because I am dem rules).

That is because we have almost no rules but two, do not create drama and no haxors pls. (and being mature because constant sex talk).

I think that age exceptions could be made if the applicant is perfect or very good, but not other than that.

I think that an application may not be needed, but having some requirements are normal if they tribe doesn't like kids.
As what Lychung said before, kids may be stupid. << I don't agree this but I don't disagree either.
