Everyone please don't worry about "being sappy". Being honest about how you feel toward Valentine's or what you plan on doing for another person isn't going to change anyone's perspective of you. Valentine's in general is "sappy" if you want to consider it that way, but it's really just a day to care and recognize others on how you feel about them.

Why should anyone matter if they think it's "sappy"? It's what you plan on doing on that day for someone else and you should keep your head up and GO FOR IT.

Why not write it in your own handwriting?
If you want them to notice you, just be yourself from the start by writing in your own style. If it seems recognizable, who cares?

Make sure he if the first one to read it though. give it personally to him or ask a trustworthy friend to do it. If he makes a huge joke out of it or technically throws it away and you feel angry and upset, you can always talk to people (but he ain't worth your time if he makes jokes and says insults about your letter). But, you can always keep trying to gain his attention.

Are you embarrassed by having a crush? It's not something to be embarrassed of but it should be embraced instead. You have a crush. If it doesn't happen, you had the guts to try and that's a ton more guts than lots of other people can have.
It's all about trying.
How can you know it'll be good or not unless you try?
You can't let fear ride you on these things.

I dont want to be bothered by everyone, and that would probably irritate him a lot as well, so I'd rather he or anyone not recognize my writing

Haha I don't have anyone, never have, and seriously wonder if I ever will. It's not that bad though.
