irony is that the game is not from a japanese company or anything.

Translating to just "Cat dancer", it is to me imo, a boring name.
But i mean i cannot just go up to an admin and be a jerk about just the name so...

sounds pretty cool

Nekodancer makes it sound more cute and more intriguing than "Cat Dancer". I think the name is a good start.

While I don't like people who constantly mix up japanese words with english to look like they know the language, I think it's perfectly fine to use them with a precise intention or in a certain context (i.e. naming things).

For a while selfies were called "selcas" based on the Korean term but you only see that used now by wannabe Koreans.
The issue I have with it is if you didn't have the love of anime thats come through the years, none of this would happen. Don't get me wrong, I thoroughly enjoy anime. I'm not going to sit here and be a hypocrite as I have an icon from Kyoukai no Kanata.

It could've very easily been named something else with some sort of cat pun. There's tons of them out there. I feel like "Nekodancer" is a cheap cop out and just a way to attract their already young audience of superaddicted anime fans.

And Chat-danse would've been nice because all their other games, save for TFM ofc, have had French-themed names. Bouboum, Fortoresse.

Kind of weeaboo if you ask me. But honestly, it sounds better than "Cat Dancer".

I personally think it's catchy. Neko sounds better if it's to replace the cat in Cat Dancer. Would you prefer to say Cat with a harsh t at the end of the word or a 'ko' sound for Neko for a cute game? Since Ne and Ko sounds softer than Ca T, I think it's better on the tongue.
I still don't like it even if you consider the explanation Sydoline gave. It still feels like it's a call to the anime-fans because it's a Japanese word, a popular one that anime-fans use too. Since people apply 'kawaii' with Japan now I think people will just go "Oh! It has a Japanese word I know. It surely must be kawaii!" So they would try it out.
Would you play a game named "(Le) Chat Dancer" or "Neko Dancer"? Chat is a word in English and it means talking or a conversation would probably confuse people. Neko is a word most English speakers don't know about (Well it's Japanese so i don't blame them) and would probably click just to see what a neko is. The reason why people don't even handle advertisements anymore is because they're either impatient, it doesn't catch their eye, or it's not interested to them.
While I think that's a rather good marketing idea which Atelier801 probably didn't think of, I still dislike the name of the way it feels unneeded.

honestly you guys shouldn't really complain abot how annoying it is. would you rather have a boring title like "CatDancer"? It doesn't really seem worth it since it's important to have a catchy title to capture people's interest
