People in some countries are unable to play this game as YouTube is banned in their countries for certain aspects of that website which raises some questions.

Why is A801 using direct YouTube links for music? YouTube is normally used in transformice by tribe houses and minigames, but this is not any of these, this is an actual game.

A801 should not be using the easy way, they should be using the right way. The way that will get people from lots of countries playing this game instead of wishing that they could all because A801 is using YouTube and also being told there is nothing that can be done when there can.

This is the problem with the game currently and there are many solutions to this. Here is my solution

• Nekodancer having its own database of music. This was done well by room baffbot in Transformice if people remember it. We can have have people using a search for a songs name instead of posting a link and if it is not on there they can post a YouTube link in a menu to generate its own mp3 (or mp4?) link and added to the database. Also users can report a song if it violates any rule.

Please let me know what you think about this.

I agree, I feel bad for those who can't play their music, and using youtube gets really annoying with the trolls

Atelier801 aren't able to just acquire a database of music and use it however they want, there are legal requirements they have to adhere to. Having the licensing for a database of music that rivals Youtube would be well beyond the financial reach of a small Indie games company, especially since Nekodancer doesn't make any direct revenue.

Baffbot could get away with people uploading their own Mp3's because Atelier801 was not a company at the time and was not making revenue from Transformice. Once Atelier801 was formed Baffbot was forced to remove the ability to play community uploaded Mp3's. Mods also lost the ability to play music in public rooms, since Atelier801 doesn't have the right to use copyrighted music for financial gains.

Youtube is the largest database of music that Nekodancer can use 'freely' but it does means that Atelier801 have to obey Youtube's Terms of Use, and sadly that means that some players will not be able to have access to everything Youtube offers. Even if there was a different database that could be used, similar restrictions would always apply. It's not something Atelier801 can control.

As much as it would be nice for everyone to be able use play Nekodancer fully regardless of where they come from, the reality of it is it just can't be done. Maybe a solution could be found sometime in the future, but for now it's not as simple as 'Get a personal database'

Atelier 801 should be in control of its own game. Finding another system should be a proirity for them.

It will be better for the players and for atelier 801.

Music is a huge part of this game and they should be the one that maintains the control especially for the future when this increases in popularity.

Propose what you would do if you were a part of A801 then. I'm sure it would either be incredibly costly, incredibly time consuming or just impossible.

If I was A801, I would have the system on my first post but we would avoid trouble as Nekodancer would not be making any revenue but they will still get it from other games such as transformice as that is the opposite of what happened to baffbot.

As explained by Whiskypickle, this is impossible due to legal issues.

I live in the middle east (Israel) and I can play nekodancer.

Please correct me if I'm wrong just because nekodancer plays youtube videos (infact the players can even take from other websites if they choose to do so) Doesn't mean Nekodancer is sponsered by or is part of youtube.

It's made by a seperate company, In a completely different country, And I feel like People should be able to play nekodancer no matter where they are even if they play youtube links.
