E/N: I actually used this story for a 750 word competition so that's why it is short and a bit rushed ~_~ It is also a greek myth as the competition was myth themed. I made up the characters and I have added some more words into it so I hope it's ok!~ Meanings: Principium- Latin word for Spring or beginnings I forgot. Hedera- Latin word for ivy. Zeus- A greek god and king of gods. Catalon Forest- A forest that I made up and where Principium lives. Mount Olympus- Home of Gods and where Principium court was held. Why Spring Was The Season Of New Beginnings. There was a time where seasons never had a purpose. They were still Winter, Spring, Summer and Autumn but nothing happened much in those seasons. The tree leaves were never striped down and there was no such thing as snow in Winter. There was one goddess who ruled over these seasons, Goddess of Seasons, Principium. She was a fairly young goddess and got her rank 10 years ago. She has a glorious long flowing dress with bird's and duck's feathers sewed on. She has a crown of leaves and a mysterious leaf shaped bottle. People often ask her why she has never filled her bottle yet, she just smiles and turns away One day a raging storm hit Catalon forest. Principium helped the animals to safety and saw a little human baby hiding behind the branches, screaming it's lungs out. Principium couldn't bear to see a young one in distress so she took it to shelter. She raised it as if her own child. She called the boy Hedera and raised him till he was 15, learning facts about nature along the way. Of course, humans were the enemies of nature and once her sisters found out about it, they were fuming. Principium was set on trial at Mount Olympus for her guilt. "Principium, goddess of seasons, you have been found guilty of raising a human child secretly. Your punishment is that your rank is stripped down to one season, Spring and you may only visit the child only Spring time. Meanwhile you spend your time in the Forbidden Cave." bellowed Zeus. She cried, argued and begged for mercy and tried to convince them that some humans are different but it was no use. She had to obey no matter what. Hedera was a tall brown haired boy, he wore silk clothing and he was loved by the animals and plants in Catalon Forest. However it's not like Principium not being there would cause distress, In Autumn, the leaves would sway away in hope of saving her, the winds would cry crystal tears every winter and the sun would heat up more in the Summer. Once she had returned back to Spring, everything would be normal, even the animals would reproduce to show their happiness. Hedera silently cried the most, his angel vanished. Now what? After 2 years, Hedera finally thought of a plan. He decided to go to the Forbidden Cave and rescue her however he knew the journey was perilous. It took him days, weeks and months to get to the cave, crossed rivers, mountains and deserts but saw spectacular sights. When he finally got to the cave, it was cold. Very cold and dark like all the happiness turned away at that one spot. Where the sun never shone, where the rain never rained. He knew it was what he was looking for. He anxiously walked through the cave, looking everywhere, bats flying over and snakes slivering. He carefully watched his step as if it would cost him his life. He finally got to the point where he thought he was walking for hours but light shone as he had found her. Cold, stone bone and frail. He bashed down the iron bars and helped her stand up. "Why are you here?" she said slowly yet angrily. "This is not a safe place, leave me now!" "None has harmed me yet, I must save you as you have saved me" he said calmly. Principium was right, it was like the cave was at tough stage and making traps each step. Principium saved his life 10 times before her powers started to run out. At last, they saw the light one more time. It shone brightly ahead, it sparkled on the ocean outside and birds were flying high. As soon as they left the cave, a star had died. Hedera, covered in blood, was killed. Principium turned around. "You!" she screamed. "What a naughty girl, asking your false son to save you" Zeus tut and shook his head, "Well, since you're out of the cave outside spring it seems like the curse is broken." He looked at Hedera, "Oh well, I did warn you." and he faded away. Hedera was buried, and never forgotten and Principium filled her bottle up with his blood. She discovered that his blood essence made ivy. Her favourite plant. "What a coincidence?" she said while a tear rolled down her cheek. |
