Most of us are familiar with the quality option. You right-click, choose Quality, then choose Low, Medium, or High. Those of us who lag will choose Low, because it's faster. Those of us who never lag will choose High, because it looks much nicer (especially art maps).

This is because everything is rendered every frame--EVERYTHING. That plant that doesn't move? Draw it several times. That chair, made up of vectors which take longer to render? Every frame.

This isn't an uncommon practice because it's so simple, but simple practices come at the cost of performance and performance comes at the cost of quality.

Why not get both? High-quality graphics that are rendered almost instantly.

The only cost of this is a single frame--that's it! You draw everything once, save it, then the entire static map (of course dynamic objects not included) in a single image!

To be specific:
1. All background objects that do not move (static grounds, decorations, etc.) will be rendered offscreen, saved as the background image.
2. All foreground objects that do not move (static grounds, decorations, etc.) will be rendered offscreen, saved as the foreground image.
3. Each frame, the background image is drawn--all at once.
4. Then, the dynamic background objects (mice, dynamic grounds, shaman objects, etc.)
5. Then, the foreground image is drawn--all at once.
6. Then, the dynamic foreground objects (mice, dynamic grounds, shaman objects, etc.)

Viola~ you can render the background and foreground images at HIGH quality, then redraw them as simple flat images that look the EXACT same as before, but NICER and FASTER.
