Grammar fanatic

Is anyone every bothered by the abbreviated words that are exchanged in the chat?

Most of them, yes.
The universal ones like AFK, BRB, IDK, LOL, LMAO and so on aren't sooo bad, but the over-abundance of them gets old.

I've honestly been tired of things like "sp" "ty" and especially "pls" and "plz" for the longest time. It takes literally 1 second to type the whole word(s) out...
I just find these abbreviated words to be annoying when most of the room uses them :/

Honestly I have no idea if it is because I'm old but alot of meanings such as FTW (has TOO many interpretations) or..well YOLO (< what the heck does that even mean. You sound like a yo-yo crashed into your face) are beyond me.

It makes me more comfy when I ask my friends what they mean and they have no idea either lol

I do most of these simply in irony to be honest. But I just ignore it all at this point, I'm used to it.

I hate yolo so much. It was only blown up because some big shot made it popular, and now every knucklehead uses it as an excuse to be idiots and do the stupidest things they can.

Yolo = ERROR 404: CANNOT COMPLY Reason: Yolo is stupid.

"yolo" is the stupid person's "carpe diem."

also don't forget "SPARTA!!!!!!!"
like seriously 300 has been out so long some of these kids were born after it at this rate..

I do find it funny to use it in an ironic way, though, and blatantly make fun of the saying.

French fry falls on the floor? Eat it anyway. Yolo.
Out of toilet paper? Use paper towels. Yolo.
Stay up one minute passed when you said you'd go to bed? Yolo.

I try not to use abbriviations mostly because I don't know what they mean. I only know common ones. And yes I use the common ones.

Thank goodness I've never experienced any /serious/ usage of "YOLO" in real life yet, but if I ever do, I couldn't help but to do this:

Ironically, the title of this thread should be "Grammar Fanatic." Edit: But I guess that's spelling, not grammar, right?
Anyways, I use 'pls' sometimes to sound cute when talking to girls.

Between that and people apparently breaking down into that chicken dance (I forgot what it was called, probably to spare my sanity) in tfm. I know that isn't a grammar issue but its rampant enough to be called a plague at this point.

Though I am proud to probably be the start of a new way to call someone a noob (nib, it sounds more hilarious to me but I could have a brain tumour anyhow)

I love nib, Ramen. ;o; I'm going to start using that from now on.

I think that the key problem with this community isn't really what abbreviations we use, it's the ability to show intellect...more over, the lack thereof. ;;
