So Baffler made a rather interesting post over on CFM, found here: http://cheese.formice.com/forum/threads/the-future-of-baffbot.43719/#post-1607508, in which he discusses the future of Baffbot, and generally talks about bots as a whole. So figured since a lot of you don't visit both here and CFM, we could discuss things here too? What are your thoughts on the topics he mentioned?

As well as that, we can generally discuss bots. He mentioned how bots have changed the game for the better (Which I believe almost everyone will agree with). I found racing and Baffbot to both be amazing fun when I used to play them all the time as a new mouse. Tribewar was fun too until that was removed. What were your favourites?

So yeah, feel free to discuss o/

Well, while I accept the fact that players shouldn`t be able to see the discompiled SWF, mainly because of hackers, I think that Tigrounette is being more or less ignorant, and I still didn`t get the reason for that happening. He could at least, as Baffler said, be more cooperative ,for the sake of players that play those minigames.

Ffa really influenced my early days of game, and other rooms like Quiz, TD or Pictionary. Now, I don`t say that they all should be made official, but at least some help with their updating could be given by Tig, and that would be worthy

I think FFA should definitely be be made official. Or, if it's too similar to survivor, make it part of survivor with the same appearance frequency as vampire maps.

I don't know too much about bots, but I'll always love playing FFA in the Tribe house with my buddies.

Seeing how much tfm likes to get rid of hackers, I suppose you can agree that having the help and support of the community, well the programming community is quite usefull.
With this I mean to say, I suggest the tfm staff should work together in one way or the other with the 3rd party programmers.
There is quite a good reason for this, mainly the bot programmers need to crack the code to be able to use their bots. Which usually means a bunch of people work together cracking it, and it can end up getting in the wrong hands. You don't want the bot creators ofcourse messing around in the code. So if bots were just given some sort of obligations that worked around the code, it would work the same way. And bots would be very effective as well.

Why isn't tfm doing this? Well I suppose it is lack of overview and controle.
But this is just a old thing, this used to be the case. Because everyone with the right programming, could use this as hacking. But if you limit accounts, certain players, inside the game. This problem wouldn't be there. Ofcourse you need premission. But atleast the more popular bots would work.
Also the other lack of overview and controle is that they cant make sure, what the bot maker is intending with these bots. For example tribewar was removed due to players votebanning other players for faul play. Although currently votebanning and all that sorta stuff has been changed, so that technically shouldnt be a issue anymore.
Private rooms, in the terms basically in private rooms you can do whatever you want except stat improving things. Or so I understand. Example of a privateroom is your tribehouse. It is also the reason tribehouse bots are sorta allowed, the other reason being, well try to stop it. If no premission was granted, they wouldn't have controle and a overview over the system.

So what do we expect of this indie-game transformice? Are they thinking in improvements that include the community, for example a Botapi, you know those things game developers add to let the community work on the game.
I personally think that the community is the base of any succes. Without it, eventhough how great the game might be, it wouldn't be it. And seeing how the most succesfull games, have a great community relationship. That gives a suggestive idea what is the key to improving this game. Currently though, it feels sometimes like you talk to a wall, or you have no point into expressing your thoughts.

I definitely would appreciate to hear the admins viewpoint on this topic aswell. I wouldn't suppose this would get ignored so easily, because 'free for all'(ffa) has quite a number of fans and loyal players. So this isn't really the problem of the botmaker, its the problem of the admins, the community, well and ofcourse the botmaker.

tl;dr? --> What do you think about the way atelier801 is doing things?

Base on that: Baffbot vs. ./room Debuglua

Who is going to top over then?

I'd like to think leaving a bot to just handle whispers is very easy to code.

Also, i think the room can be coded to give messages, as it did to me once.

Hehe, I remember baffbot (This isn't my first acc)

My friends and I used to love playing baffbotffa and my friend would always win even though she was new to the game XD Yep, baffot is gone. But now they replaced bots with lua, and baffbot with a whole lot of minigames.

Who knows what would happen next??
