Guest Abilitys |

Guests can do nearly every thing we can... which has lead to the abuse of guest accounts. any one who is actually new to the game as thus trys it out as a guest wont know how to do anything. so here is a list of things i think guests should no longer be allowed to do and why. Guests shouldn't be able to be the shaman. reason: a real guest has no clue what they are doing and thus mice end up all suiciding and no one gets cheese. but ppl who troll by getting on a guest account when they aren't at all new to the game, will do things like cannon every one or favo some one and for some reason no one ever kicks a guest from a room for wasting our time like that.... Guests shouldn't be able to take 1st place. a real guest has to get extremely lucky to even get 1st place AND a guest has no use for stats. so these pros come along and hop on a guest account to troll most of the 1st's from the mice. this is really rude and should be stopped. Guests shouldn't be able to be soul mates. a real guest that becomes soul mates with a normal player will just kill the normal player 9 times out of 10. as for what i call "fake guests" aka a normal player that for some crazy reason is playing as a guest. they just troll you most of the time. refusing to let you go in the hole and what not. Guests shouldn't be able to count as mice not in the hole. real guests and fake guests cause the same problem in this case. a real guests often fails to get in the hole and thus the shaman is stuck. thankfully real guests also die more often than not. where as a fake guest will troll the shaman, refusing to enter the hole and dodging cannons. granted shamans can ice 2 players... but sometimes there are more than 2 fake guests. from my experiance there are more than 2 about 33.33% of the time. so shaman should be able to enter the hole if the only mice still alive and outside the hole are guests. I feel like all 4 things i listed are valid complaints that all we mice have to suffer thru. if you want to troll you should do it on your real account so that people will have a name to hate and possibly vote ban. guest trolling is wrong and wastes so much time. Granted the whole idea behind guest accounts is to try out the game before making an account, but guest accounts are clearly abused. also a real guest would still get a good idea of how the game works even if these abilitys are removed from guests. one other thing, it should be easy enough for yall to just set up auto messages for guests that inform them of their slightly limited abilitys and that all they have to do is make an account to have full access. please considere this as a real possibility :) |

This topic has been on the minds of players since TFM started... let me try and address your concerns and give you the basic feelings of the admins, as I understand them: I won't disagree that players are using guest accounts as probably not intended, but I wouldn't consider this abuse... instead, if their behavior is negative, I would consider it trolling, which is part of the game (not bannable by mods, but still 'bannable' by players if they want to kick the player). Removing the basic features from guests would make the game undesireable to those who are just trying it out and decided not to go through the steps of creating an account. The idea was thought up a while ago of putting all guest accounts into their own little segregated world, but the admins didn't like this idea either because then you would have two groups in this separate area: one group of new players who have no idea what's going on and have no way of learning how to do things by watching those who do know.... and a bunch of troll players who are only in there to mess around with the new players and get some laughs out of it. This situation would likely not result in the guest players deciding to create an account and actually play the game. So then, what about the real players who hide behind the guest accounts, just to mess around, "steal firsts", etc.? What would be the difference between a guest doing this and an alt? Literally, the only difference is that the person behind the keyboard didn't have to spend an extra 1 minute creating some random player name. The result is the same, if this player wants to enter a room and troll, "steal firsts", waste time, etc. For a while, guests were not allowed to get first and it was entirely unfair to any player on a guest account as they would instantly bubble if they hit the hole before a non-guest. As a true new player to the game, this would be rather annoying and upsetting... and to someone who is just there to troll, they would simply find other ways of doing it So, in summary and tl;dr: If you don't like what a guest is doing, kick them from the room via voteban or leave the room Trolling is part of the game, if you don't like it, see ^</li> I'll leave this topic open for discussion and/or other ideas, but just take note that this complaint (which, not to be mean, really all it is) has been heard hundreds of times before and things are still as they are. |

thanks for the reply. but i did adress how the restrictions wouldn't hurt the game... and seeing as this complaint has been heard so many times. why has nothing been done yet? change by popular demand :P and really most of the people against this idea are people who guest troll and just don't wanna lose the ability to. ps i did adress the problem of actually getting people to vote ban a guest... |

You can voteban a guest the same way as a normal user, with /ban *guestname. If they evade the voteban on another guest account, you can report them. Nothing has been done about this complaint because there's an opposite complaint. New players should be able to experience all of the game, including shamaning and soulmate maps. If a guest "steals" first, then they still probably would've gotten the first if they were on a real account anyway. Also, it was really confusing for new players when they just died instead of getting cheese like all the other mice. And as Tibal mentioned, trolling on guest accounts is still just trolling. If players couldn't troll on guest accounts, they'd just create nonsense account names to troll with. |

Eagleoflight a dit : You're trying to segregate guest accounts and normal accounts based on their knowledge level of the game. What's your reason to assume that people on a normal account have better knowledge of the game than a new guest account? If guest accounts were to be removed, these new people would be on a normal account and they would still have no clue what to do? So you're not solving any problem here. Eagleoflight a dit : What I find really rude is that you're deciding for other people how to play the game. If a person chooses to use a guest account to play the game, and this person manages to finish first, who are you to tell that person he/she has no right to be first? Surely you're not in charge of this person to say whether he/she has to save his/her stats? Also I disagree with the fact you call this trolling. There is no difference in losing from a normal account compared to losing from a guest account. So why is it considered trolling if this guest account chooses to not have his stats saved? To me it is nothing more than discrimination. The ancient saying applies here and I won't hestitate to say it: If you want to be first, simply be faster than everyone else, INCLUDING guest accounts. If you cannot handle that, change the room or play a different game. Eagleoflight a dit : More often than not I see normal accounts that troll the shaman and refuse to enter the hole, or are unable to enter the hole. Your generalization of these people being guests is wrong. People that fail to enter the hole are most of the time either inexperienced players or stat-padders. This generalization can be compared to the Brazilians on EN1 problem. Most of them are obnoxious spammers and stat-padders, but this doesn't mean all Brazilians are like that, and not all obnoxious spammers and stat-padders are Brazilian either. Translated: In most cases, the reason a soulmate or shaman is unable to enter the hole is due to inexperienced players playing on a NORMAL account. It applies to some guest accounts aswell, but definetly not to all guest accounts. Eagleoflight a dit : As I've already stated above many times the reason mice do not get to the hole is due to inexperienced players. Same problem arises when they are shaman: they have no idea what to do or are too slow when building. Blaming this on guest accounts is inaccurate and wrong. Surely there are many guest accounts that don't know what they are doing, but isn't that why they are guest accounts? To be able to get to know the game and hopefully stay so they can improve their skills? Eagleoflight a dit : Of course there are people that use guest accounts to anonymously troll other people. But the use of a guest account is more than that. Sometimes you just have those days that you do not feel like talking to anyone. Sometimes you have those days that you do not want to be stalked by anyone. Sometimes you have those days where you just cannot be bothered to log in onto your real account. Why would you bother creating an alternate account for these situations knowing that you're not going to use it very often. Logging on a guest account in these cases is an optimal solution. You're not creating a ghost account yet you can still play the game as if you're on a normal account. To end, there are also numerous positive experiences regarding guest players. Not every pro logs on a guest account to troll, some just want to show off their skill anonymously. I hope it's clear that I do not support this suggestion. :) |

So you're not solving any problem here." 1 i never said i wanted guest accounts removed just restricted in their abilitys. 2 yes i am trying to "segregate guest accounts and normal accounts based on their knowledge level of the game." my reason i feel was clearly stated... but i'll explain more. some one on a normal account can talk and thus get into a conversation with some one and be taught how to play more easily. a guest can not so what's the point? i also said " it should be easy enough for yall to just set up auto messages for guests that inform them of their slightly limited abilitys and that all they have to do is make an account to have full access. " anythin said: " Of course there are people that use guest accounts to anonymously troll other people. But the use of a guest account is more than that. SO WHAT?! if you're feeling anti social then don't bother getting on! and showing off skill anonymously acheives nothing and is often just an excuse ppl use to justify guest trolling. as for everything else anythin said. stop treating this like some political arquement about equal rights for all races. this has nothing to do about that. i explained how any harm to the gaming experiance for real guests could be easily taken care of. and i've explained why a fake guest ultimately serves no valid purpose so why let a fake guest troll? if some one lacks skill then let them make an account and learn! it all comes down to what is the point? well there is no good reason to let fake guests troll. and the ways to stop fake guests would do no harm to real guests. so why make all these complicated arquements that ultimately twist the truth of the situation into sounding like some brave fight for equal rights? it is what it is. don't try to make it sound like something else. |

Eagleoflight a dit : sure. Eagleoflight a dit : Actualy, guests should have equal rights. Like Anythin said, If a guest get before you it's the same thing as if a normal player got before you. There is a lot of players who troll on normal accounts, many more than people trolling on guest accounts. There are noob shamans on normal accounts too. Eagleoflight a dit : If new players ask people for help they most often end up by being told to suicide. Maybe the guest could have some pre-made sentences to say, for example: "I am new to this game" "Hello" "thanks" "Good job" "Help me please" "Good bye" "What should I do now?" etc... When guests chat it could have some special colour. Orange maybe. There could be a command that make you ignore all guests, maybe /ignore* (Ps. If you want to quote anyone, click their avatar or name and then the first option you get. ) |

No. Guests should be able to ban and report. Different people occasionally play as guests for different reasons. There's no reason to punish them. If a guest is trolling you, ban them. If a guest gets a first, then like you said, he's either lucky, or you are just really bad at the game. Why would you get a first when you're not... first? |

Eagleoflight a dit : Actually I would love to hear why my reasons are not good enough for the matter. I don't quite understand why you would be obliged to talk to other people if you want to play the game. There are many people that get plenty of unwanted whispers, which they will not get if they log in on a guest account. Much quicker than having to ignore every single whisperer. Eagleoflight a dit : The point is there is a freedom of choice to use the guest feature in more ways than one. It has become more than just a way for new players to learn the game. To limit a guests ability because of trolls is a weak argument because people troll on normal accounts aswell. So removing/altering the guest feature won't change that situation. |

Your whole post seems to boil down to the fact that new players and trolls annoy you. Guests may happen to be new or troll more often than registered players, but limiting their abilities just because some players are annoyed by them is unnecessary. Also, 'first' means 'first' and not 'second' or 'behind guest'. Deal with it. |
