Making a topic because I was asked to.

Yesterday someone asked me if the totem editor was broken which lead into me testing the editor itself and it is indeed a little bit wonky since the shaman skill update [I made a totem on my alt the day before and it was still normal.]

I guess it is a little hard to explain so I did take screens as well. But basically, the object placement moves after you leave totem editor. On one hand it isn't too bad if you place an object perfectly centered around an anchor [planks in particular are what cause a problem because theyre narrow], but if the object is even a few pixels too high unless you're attaching the totem to other items the anchors are not going to register as attached to things like planks.

I imagine this to be extremely agitating to anyone who uses a more artistic or fancy totem or a bridge totem even.

So to start off, I go in and I make this:

But when I go to use it...

So then I go back to editor....

So I moved the anchor again.

Which turns into...

Hopefully all of the pictures are allowed o.0 it seemed difficult to explain what was happening without visual aid.

I keep trying to make a bridge totem, and the nails keep going higher, then disappears after 2 sham turns.

Sometimes my nails just don't show up, and sometimes they go and nail a completely different part that isn't supposed to be nailed at all. e.e

Moonlitmouse a dit :
Sometimes my nails just don't show up, and sometimes they go and nail a completely different part that isn't supposed to be nailed at all. e.e

Because if you're achoring something like a board, especially with 'C' anchors they can easily pop out when the object shifts downwards. Red anchors can be used alone so I guess that is why they work even as boards move.

It's frustrating, but if you continue popping back and forth between editor and somewhere like tribehouse you can actually see where things have shifted afterwards. So it requires a bit of playing around and some guessing to get things lined up right.

THanks for posting good detailed screenshots. Basically the problem I found it that the anchors move up a bit after you save the totem. I fixed mine by placing all of my anchors slightly below where I wanted them.

Ever since the update my totem's nails have been disappearing and causing my totem to break upon summoning. It's really starting to get under my skin.

After trying for 3 hours to make a simple totem with 2 grounds and 2 stable runes, I think I figured it out. When you add normal shaman objects to the map, they all shift down like 5 pixels once you save it, but the nails stay where they are. To make my totem (which has a b nail, 4 c nails, and 2 v nails), I had to add all the shaman objects first, and the save it, then go back to editor and add the nails, then save it again.

If you are specific about where you want your totem to spawn (for example, I perfer that the the red nail on my totem spawns at the tip of the feather icon) then you should make sure you build the shaman objects 3, 4, or 5 pixels higher than where you want them.

Similar issues are happening to me. I reset my shaman points and had my totem get deleted (which I first believed is a bug, but now know it's not a bug.) I tried making a new totem, basically a remake of my old bridge totem. I placed all the nails right, didn't use any of the new blocks, and when I placed the totem almost none of the nails spawned. It has gotten very annoying and basically renders me without a working totem on hardmode.

This is aswell pissing me off. Is the person in charge of the totems ever going to fix it? The problem I'm having is that when I make my totem all lined up and perfectly fine, I go to a room to test my totem by myself and then BOOM some of my yellow dots are missing.
The struggle is real

This is indeed extremely frustrating for someone with a totem on the fancier side. I hope Tig fixes this soon.
