TFM has a sort of bendable rule that only 13+ are allowed to join. These rule has always been broken, and that's ok ^^

But does anyone feel the amount of 10 and under is getting a bit concerning, for all reasons? I look at things now, and it seems everywhere, rooms and forums, most of everyone's about nine years old.

---

I'd also like to call in a new opinion. Of the 11 and under group, yes, there's lots of well mannered kids. Do any of you feel that there is certain immaturity others? EX lack of respect, spammy topics; silly fights regarding ART.

I don't think cursing is my problem. People will always and forever swear, it's uncontrolable. The immaturity of our community ABUSING swearing and sexual content is annoying. You know what I hate?

How RAPE is a joke these days. Let me tell you, it is not.

Insults that can be ignored and other spammy ways get into in-game chats. And it's not just the normal so-so spam, it's the new type of spam seen everywhere. And it is generally 10 year old's spam. I can't take forums seriously anymore. This is horrible but there is so much 3rd grader degree drama in fan arts and tribe forums and IN-GAME that quite frankly should go back to the preschool playground and not here.

I am NOT saying ALL "kids" are immature. It's a majority. I'm also not saying teens + higher are always mature!

Ramenfrog a dit :
I think what is happening here is that society's technology is soaring but, with no instruction manual.

Back in my day (20+ years) we didn't have any hardcore internet things or iphones ect. and required actual face to face interaction to converse with people that help strengthen social skills (as kids) and learn what is appropriate to say and what isn't.

Now kids are exposed to so much going on thanks to Youtube, online games and well you name it with parents gifting a 6 year old with an ipad (I know a family who actually did this) but obviously parents can't monitor them or they aren't taught proper internet skills and usually do not get any consequences for what they say. On that note, most have no idea what some of those words mean or don't understand the gravity for what they actually say (consequence, lack of understanding ect.)

At least that is how I think of how some of these kids act on TFM (that or they have serious real life problems and vent their frustration out on the forums here)

I don't know, maybe I'm just spouting nonsense, but that is how I think about the influx of underaged kids. I don't agree with their actions but one must also think about how they got there in the first place. (One word: Peers.)

Penghammy a dit :
I'm 13, (almost 14) but I'm very mature for my age, as that's the way I was brought up. I'm sick of the way some people my age act, not only on the internet, but in real life as well. I've seen how they act as though nothing matters but them, and how ungrateful and disrespectful towards adults they are. I also dislike cussing, whether it be from an adult or minor, but especially from a minor. I've never cursed in my life. I'm not really against under-aged people on TFM, but I am against their immaturity. I mean, if they're not going to take things seriously, they should just keep their mouths shut. It makes me quite upset to be stereotyped into this group of people, though. Let me tell you, in this world there is a small group of teenagers that know right from wrong. They're just the minority though.

Vogul a dit :
Even though we know that wall of text (the ToS) is mainly there to protect the company and not much else.

Anyway, yeah, noticed the average age of the players most notably on the forum. And oh boy, the way they just behave...

Haruhitastic a dit :
I've read the "Introduce Yourself!" thread in four different community forums and to see an age over 15 is rare.

Seeteegee a dit :
I dunno; I've been around for a while and it has been a thing even before with about the same intensity. My concern is not so much that these kids create troubles, but more about how they'd influence the "good kids" to become like them.

Whiskypickle a dit :
I guess it leads to a wider issue that there is little to no education on internet etiquette. The internet will be a large part of every child, teen and adult's life in most countries these days yet we aren't taught anything on how to use it or to communicate properly with other people.

I could write much more on this but i'm rather tired so i'll see how this turns out tomorrow.

Lagiacruss a dit :
I agree with those when they say it's not a simple "ignore and move on" situation, because let's face it, the ignorance/stupidity/outright foolishness and hate that these children exhibit is just flooding the forum and game.

It cuts into me especially when they choose to try to act "tough" just because they're on the internet (and also being disgusting/perverted). I mean, come on, it gets so old whenever every room is filled with young kids swearing like sailors, insulting everyone and everything for any reason they desire, and talking about sexual things constantly.
(I could talk on and on on this subject, but I'm not going to spend time writing a novel about it.)

I wouldn't have too much of an issue with the under-aged number if they just acted decent, plainly put.

Haditamagica a dit :

Talking about under-age kids, look what I found on the Guideline and Rules thread by Sydoline:
"11. Don’t post links to anything pornographic, illegal or pirated.
Links or images of anything inappropriate is a serious offense; people of all ages browse these forums, so keep that in mind."

She had said "people of ALL AGES browse these forums." so I'm starting to wonder if TFM is for everyone and not only for 13+.

Haditamagica a dit :
Jesus, I'm 11 years old and this makes me wanna quit TFM at the moment. In fact, I haven't been playing for weeks. Since the 5th of July I stopped. I really just go on the forums, really, from now on. I mean, why do Tigrounette and the TFM team just do it for 13+, TFM looks so much like a kiddie game. Like in the thread "Why do you think mice explode into bubbles when they die?" and Shamousey's reply was "Because it's a FRIENDLY KID game and an explosion of blood and guts would turn some people away." so that's why I DON'T understand why the game's 13+. (My keyboard can't be full of reason.)

Quoting people I agree with.

I never knew about the 13+ rule, actually. How long has that been a thing? Is it in the terms and conditions I so boldly declare that I didn't read?

I don't mind that there are 10 year old kids here. It is a game of cute little mice, after all. What I do find concerning is that a sizeable portion of these kids are swearing, trolling, acting "big", and being general pricks.

I believe I was told of this rule by many people. No, it is not steady at all.

Yes, it's in the ToS; but it was never really an issue (only implied) until the ToS came out. Unfortunately there's no proper way to follow the guideline in this kind of environment unless you ask for ages and if they don't lie, have parents fax a form.

It is:

TOS a dit :
By creating an Account or otherwise using the Service, you represent that you are at least age 13 and agree to these Terms, or that you are under 13 years of age and your parents or legal guardian have read and agreed to these Terms, and you understand and agree that we are relying upon that representation in allowing you to use the Service.

Haru pls.

I guess it's expected though, cute mice that you can dress up on an easy-to-access website.

Did... did lawyers write that thing? "Age 13"? 13 what, 13 months old?! I'm right now tempted to go over the terms of service just to mock the poor construction and ambiguous choice of words! >:D

How do you determine the average age of the players on the forum? Is there some sort of user profile here that I've never seen?

A lot of these contracts are standard templates passed around from business to business. I dont know if this one in particular was drawn up from scratch but it's a fairly standard format. If it was in a court of law I doubt a judge would find 'Age 13' unclear enough for ther clause to be scrapped since age is universally considered in years. But I digress.

Abdeltif a dit :

Short answer is no. While Atelier 801 have the right to delete any account and ban anyone they see fit with or without any reason given, that clause is just there to protect the business from liability. When you made your account and accepted the TOS, you also acted in faith that you are playing with permission from a parent or guardian anyway.

So... from the people who mentioned their ages, you extrapolated the average age of forum goes?... Er, what would be your sample size?...

Not to mention it uses the phrase "13 years of age" there too, which should clear up any issues you have with that.
