This is an unofficial contest of sorts.

I'm creating a forum leaderboard of the people with the worst internet-related lag. This is called latency, which is measured in milliseconds (ms). The higher the number, the longer the time delay and therefore, the greater the lag.

To join, run command prompt and ping transformice.com. For Windows, press Start, then search for "cmd". Once the command prompt window opens, enter "ping transformice.com", then screenshot the result and paste here. What happens is your computer pings the IP address of transformice.com, and measures the time delay until you receive a response.

I will check the entries and count the highest latency from the screenshot.

The winners will... Well they won't receive anything, but they'll have a legitimate proof that they do indeed have the worst lag among all forum-goers.

Just wanted to let you know: pinging the transformice.com IP address is not the same as pinging the game's server IP, as the latter changes and is likely to be located in a different place than the former. Furthermore, doing this test in different moments may yield different results, as the server's load can differ from time to time. I recommend using the actual server's IP and doing a traceroute instead of just pinging. Plus, packet loss tests should be done on more than 4 samples as it's just simply not enough for an accurate measure.

You can add -t at the end and it does infinite pings. Like "ping www.google.com -t"

As Noex said, tfm's servers don't respond to ICMP packets (neither ping or traceroute), probably as an anti DDOS measure. Main server's IP is 176.31.235.211 at the moment in case anyone wants to try anyway.
