Although I really like the concept of minimalist mode, I often find it too confusing to play with. I also think not all of the color choices make much sense. So, I edited the image from the announcement to add a row of colors I would pick. Below I'll explain my choices.

I kept a lot of things the way they were, because I believe most choices made here were good ones. There are, however, a few things off about the original palette.

First off, there's the choice for giving snow grounds a different color. Seeing how the near white color (#E7F0F2) would've been very nice for ice grounds instead, as well as seeing how wood, stone, sand, earth and grass are all in one group (#324650) despite having somewhat different properties, it makes more sense to me to put ice and snow (which nearly have the same friction) in one group as well.

This change also solves the problem of ice currently looking a lot like water and clouds to me. To make water and clouds easier to separate, I gave water a more blue color (#89A7F5) with 60% opacity to make sure you can see yourself swim. Cloud grounds got the same color as wood and others (#324650), but at 40% opacity. After all, the only difference between clouds and wood is the collission settings. They're exactly the same when speaking friction/restitution.

I kept wood, stone, sand, earth, grass, squares and circles the same and only made trampolines, chocolate and lava grounds a little bit brighter.

If you have any ideas to make this simpler still, please post!

The problem with cloud is that you can't really tell it is transparent without a background, it just seems lighter... I often die because I jump on it thinking it's another ground. It should have something totally different than the other grounds imho.
The other colors you chose are nice and definitely make sense though!

Lemodile a dit :

How about you can edit the color of each ground manually?

Plus, Sand would need a color in my opinion, because of its lower friction.

It would make more sense, to me, to group sand and snow together considering their properties are more alike.

Don't see why each ground can't match it's colours. It'd be easier on the colour blind.
