in forum,may be someone want to make a thread about XXX which is similar with one old thread,the outcome is usually being locked and being told a link to nevagate at the old one.
instead of locking it,I suggest to move the thread to the old one like the user reply to the thread.And his reply will be darker to differentiate this is being move to here.Of course,if the new thread is not expressing anything but asking,staff can decide to move it or not.
The new thread may still in the list,but once ppl click it,it nevagates ppl to the old one.

To start off with, try not to put two suggestions in one thread, it's a tad confusing as the second suggestion has nothing to do with the thread title o: ( And it's against the rules )

Then the suggestion, I doubt this would be a good idea, as there are quite some people who suggest the same kind of thing. You'd eventually end up having the list of threads spammed with threads directing to the same other thread. Not to mention that the other thread with the 'original suggestion' isn't usually all that old. And if it is, might as well share your point of view there and get the thread back on top of the list so that other people can reply as well.

for the first suggestion I don't think this will be implanted because that would be a lot of threads in the suggestion list and it would be a lot of spoam just like Chantallex said.

Every basic forum system has a merging option, and sentinels have been asking for one since this forum came about.

I don't know why on earth you guys think the suggestion list will be spammed.
When I was sentinel on the old forums, I only used it to merge a topic that had quite a lot of discussion already in it. It's not gonna be for like... one or two replies to a topic where the users are saying HI THIS EXISTS.

Let's say there's been a deviantArt topic created. Ten people have replied. The topic will be merged with the already existing one, and nobody will know the difference.
It's not that hard of a thing to comprehend.

You're not understanding it.

Remember that ICEWOLFBOB is the one who adds to that list. It is NOT automatic. If he clicks the thread, it redirects to the new thread (which is a common side effect of merging a topic in the past), then he'll know not to add it.
