Standalone chocolate jumping |

Well hello there! I have a very weird problem, and it can be best seen/tested out on this map "@377297". When i got cheese and try to wj up that chocolate at the left i get jumplocked (slide down even) if i jump upwards towards it, just like you would on wood, but it doesn't seem to be the problem when i'm using the browser version.. Also a friend of mine (also using the standalone) doesn't have that problem (we have tested it throughout and are certain that it is a problem, and not just jumping badly etc.). So i was wondering what this is, i also have adobe air updated to the latest version too.. If anyone got an idea or the same problem maybe, that'd be neat x_x |

I hate to say it but if two PCs are running the same programs then the issue is going to be with your PC; unless he's running an older version of AIR. There WERE some frame rate issues with newer versions of AIR, so that's possibly an issue as well. |

Well that helps...a lot, just saying it is definitely my pc having that problem is rather wrong anyway, since there are problems that occur for some users yet not for others and its not their pc's fault either. So i was asking if anyone else maybe has this problem + for possible solutions, if you got any you're welcome to post them too. It might be my pc as you said but the problem still persists then. |

I tried to provide help. Haruhitastic a dit : I had figured you knew what to do from there (asking what version of AIR he's running or to use an older version). I know it's not helpful but to be honest it's what the issue sounds like. |

Both versions are up to date |

And do you experience the issue while on browser as well? |

"but it doesn't seem to be the problem when i'm using the browser version.." Nop. |

Whoops, I overlooked that. What about while using minimalist mode? (I should've asked all this in one post haha oops) |

Tobse a dit : Do you mean you're coming into contact with the choc grounds while you're still gaining height from your jump? Because i'm almost always guaranteed to get jumplock while jumping like that on choc grounds, and that's been the case for me ever since I started playing this two years ago. |

Yeah, it used to be the case but please test it out again, cause nowadays it isn't anymore. i think it has to do with that update some days ago..anyway i am not only getting jumplocked but i also slide down as if it is wood i jump on, i just "stick" to it when i jump correctly as i would have to on wood (also minimalist mode changes nothing). |

The sliding down chocolate I'm pretty sure is due to the amount of fps your client is running at the time. It used to be 36 frames that was standard, and while running against a normal vertical choc ground mice slowly start to fall down which is what's commonly used for people to 'walk' under choc turnarounds. However recently it was changed from 36 fps to 30 fps to reduce lag though, and when there's less frames per second there's less time your mouse is interacting with it's environment. Long story short the less time your mouse is contacting the choc wall the more you fall since gravity is a constant factor not affected by your fps. It's what makes walljumping harder and sharp turning slower when you're using a slower computer. I'm not entirely sure about this, but a lower fps could also cause jumplock to happen more often, since the animation in which your mouse touches a surface has a higher chance of happening between a gap in frames and hence your client doesn't recognise you ever touched the surface to renew your jump animation. |

Yeah okay, but i am litereally sliding down chocolate all the way not sticking to it at all..which shouldn't be the case really and my computer really isn't slow at all either. Anyway what you said does make sense (would be quite neat to get these news on announcements too..but no). Did you test out jumping up chocolate without getting away from the wall? It works without getting jumplocked even with cheese, which apparently has to do with what you said as well. I am still wondering why this applies to me while my friend is playing fine with the standalone. |
