Don't close your art trades, actually, stop asking for requests and art trades. If nobody is requesting or art trading with you, improvey our art instead of waiting with nothing to do. When people seey our growing improvement, they'll flock on over like hungry lions! Just focus on your art and a request will come soon enough.
