You shouldn't make a contest just so you can draw mice or something. There are plenty of threads such as draw the mouse above you thread where you get to draw mice. You can even do art trades. Even if your thread is dead you should keep posting and drawing, and sooner or later someone is going to see it.
Plus I don't think you even know how to run a contest considering you don't know what a contributer is.
Make a contest if you want (there are like 5 going on) but don't make it because you don't have any requests/art trades.
Also some people need motivational prizes to enter a contest. If your requests/art trades are open 24/7 what's the points.

You don't understand my point. Contributers give prizes, that's how contests get prizes
